Adults who prefer wearing diapers

Nurses General Nursing

Updated:   Published

What do you think of a young adult male patient who appears to be wearing diapers by preference? You have no idea about it until he uses his call light to let you know he had an "accident " in his diaper and needs help changing it. He has an erection during this process. Two hours later he does the same, only he has both urinated and and defecated. Another erection...

He has a passive, infantile personality, if you can believe that! :sour:

Diapers are weird

Spankings are not

We had a prisoner, actually a murderer who was on the local news. He constantly soiled himself, until the males on the unit decided to accept his care ATC. Amazingly he became continent.

Right on. Not long ago, I had a very similar situation with a male patient only instead of diaper changes he kept begging for female nurses to give him suppositories. We had only male nurses give them and after a few times he stopped asking.

The erections....eh, I guess that doesn't 100% convince me that he was trying to trick you into participating in a fetish.

Its a fetish and he was using the nursing staff for his own twisted sexual gratification. Non consensually I might add.

If he is ambulatory tell him to clean his own mess up and refuse to provide him with more diapers.

And 2 hourly toileting all day and night.....pt must get OOB and to bathroom each time.

Well a 42 year old man whom requires the use of adult diapers for my urinary incontinence I can tell from experience of having one on at all times exeception to bathing and dedicating, I've more than discovered that much like little boys do, I get random erections all the time mostly cause my diaper is at level of moist. It's wierded me out a bit as I've had to adapt to deal with my incontinence.  I'm just glad unlike when wearing tighty whities fortunately I'm the only person aware of it, but then again I've always tend to my own diapering. Otherwise I probably would've felt more awkward than yourself especially since your a chick and I'm gay. Additionally it doesn't sound like he was forcing himself on you with the erection either. Guys we learn that it can pop up at the oddest and most unoppertune time, it so normal that's why guys only complain when it won't pop up.

No way would I clean someone up if they could walk! When I worked on med surg, a lot of older pt would try and get nurses To do everything for them, but I never tolerated that. Give them what they need and walk off. Don’t even give them a chance to ask! (That if your sure they are capable, ofcourse)

WOW, last week I had a VERY similar case in our ED!  A Guy in his 30s admitted for appendicitis by his gf... 8-| Brought a bag with a pacifier,... stuffed dinosaur... and real legit baby print adult sized disposable baby diapers...  But he was totally respectful and didn’t ask to be changed or anything weird..  guessing his girlfriend handled that part? LOL  A Google search says it’s called “adult baby/diaper lover or AB/DL” and it is sexual for some but not for others apparently.  Weird but whatever keeps them calm I guess? *Shrugs

Heyy from Mississippi!  OMG, You learn something new every day I suppose.  I heard about this on TV before but never encountered it until recently. My floor just had a seemingly normal ambulatory endo patient, mid 20s, wearing a WET diaper under his gown at intake.. After the nurse inquired about his visible IC needs (No IC mentioned in his chart anywhere) he informed us they were for his “emotional comfort”.  ?HE ALSO HAD EXTRA BABY PRINT ONES WITH HIM, TOO!  LOL No binkie or stuffed animal though.. but it is super strange how common this is apparently becoming? whoda thunk?..  To each their own I guess. ??‍♀️

Way back when I was in school we were told the term was "Adult  Protective Undergarments" the word diaper was considered to be infantalizing.

Briefs is the term we use in my neck of the woods...

I just want to say, it’s not OK for someone with a fetish to involve another unwittingly against there will, and hospital staff should not have to tolerate it. However, please be always make sure there isn’t a need for the diapers. I was accused basically of this, only for the doctor to set the nurse straight. I had a hemorrhagic stroke in 2013, have no nerve function to my bladder or half of my intestine/colon. So I am in diapers 24/7. I do not get an erection being changed as it’s not a turn on at all!. However, I do buy briefs with prints made for that fetish community as they are far superior and more comfortable. This was why the nurse assumed( I am also in a wheelchair no use of left leg and weak left arm.)

in 2013 I had non stop diaper rashes and allergy rashes which they helped to curb by using a pampers diaper against my private area and an adult diaper over top. Then they found the diapers I use now and I have had no diaper rash or allergic reaction rash since. I did have to go to emerg for a major yeast infection once. And it’s embarrassing being diapered but I can only roll for changes so I need assistance. So please just make sure to investigate some before assuming. Although I would be thinking the same if he has an erection all the time.
