it is a bit depressing to read some of the threads on here so i decided to share my excitement. this week i received my beautiful littman stethoscope - in plum of course! i was so excited...still am. i have bought my shoes, scrubs, pen light, scissors, and bp cuff. not to mention the little items. i am so pumped up and ready to go. most likely i am stupid for not having some fear, but i can find none. i feel somewhat like a kid in a candy shop. i can't wait to wear and use all my new items. i can't wait to impact the lives of those in need of a gentle touch. i can't wait to hold that certification in my hands. i am a 40 year old woman, had a successful career, and yet i still feel like this is one of the most important and satisfying life changes i have made. i know the next two years will deflate some of my enthusiasm, but today i am proud and as happy as a 2yo with my hand in the cookie jar.

*wine here's to all of the newbie's getting ready to start on this exciting journey. keep the joy!!

Like everyone else here who has posted on this thread, I am so excited to be starting nursing school soon! :w00t: I have orientation this Tuesday and Wednesday and then classes officially start on the 2nd for me. I found out I got accepted back in mid-April :anpom:so it seems like I've been waiting forever for school to actually start. :anbd: I have no doubt that this will probably be one of the hardest things I'll ever do :hdvwl: but I'm looking forward to every challenge and know that I will be a better, stonger :pumpiron: person at the end of all of this, not to mention becoming a nurse! :nurse: Good luck to all of us new and returning students and congratulations on making it this far already! :yeah:

Hi! I start school on Monday!!! I have to say after orientation I am a little intimidated. I am still so excited and ready to get the ball rolling. I have to be honest and tell averyone that when I was out buying supplies I drove by a minor accident. My heart starting pumping... I was thinking, I wonder if I can help, I have my pinlight! So lame, but I know a lot of you share the same enthusiasm! Good luck everyone. Keep in touch on the board to let us all know how you are all doing!:yeah:

Two years ago I stood in your position as a 40 Year old woman proud and excited to wear my new equipment (my steth is plum too) and now I will begin the final semester and graduate in December. Keep your enthusiasm and take it one day at a time. Don't allow your peers to dampen your spirit it will be over before you know it. Good luck to you.

I was where you are at a year and a half ago. I am now entering into my last semester. I am excited....but because the torture is about to end! Good luck to you and keep up the good thoughts-those are what carry you through the absolute miserable times.

I am so happy that you are excited about starting school! Its funny to me how people describe getting butterflies in their stomache and feeling funny when they think about the person they love when they are in a new relationship (and for some even after years and years of being with that person), because that is they EXACT feeling I get when I think about nursing. I am in love with the profession and the connections that I get to have with the patients and other health care providers. The feeling is indescribable.

I am starting my senior year on Monday (day after tomorrow!) and have two semesters left. Even though I am going to have 21 hours this semester, since I am in both the Nursing Program and the University Honors Program and have to do a thesis before I graduate, I couldn't be more ecstatic and ready to start.

Here's to hoping we always stay this happy about nursing and never lost this "first love" feeling. :-)
