GCU Fall 2015 Transfer Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone!!

I am applying to GCU for the Fall Fast Track program at the AT Still campus, but I heard it is super hard to get in as a transfer, especially at the AT Still campus. Wanted to reach out and see if there are any other GCU transfer hopefuls? Wondered if we could compare stats, tips, desired campuses, etc. :) I am just so nervous!

I officially got the email about not accepting transfer students. So that's that. Looks like CEP is the only other option. Which is probably for the best. Less money and they have been so organized and helpful. Complete opposite of GCU.

D.Flores are you doing the nau cep? If so why are you choosing that over asu if I can I ask?

I chose NAU mainly Because it's cheaper. Otherwise I'd go the ASU route

Thanks girl. Ya I am applying to NAU CEP for fall. I had to scramble and figure out what to do after the disappointment of the summer program being cancelled but I still had hope for GCUs fall start. The ONLY reason I want to do GCU is so I can graduate sooner but this school is so unorganized. I feel that CEP will probably be my best choice, it's just gonna take a lot longer :/

Just a note, fall placement for CEP students took place in February. The upcoming CEP application sessions that are happening in June are for placement in Spring 2016.

Yes I know but I will start the university classes in the fall and then the nursing program come January.

Ok was just skimming this thread and thought i would clarify in case you (or anyone else) had been given another impression about starting nursing in fall. There's been misunderstandings about that before!

Oh for sure! With all the miscommunications with GCU I can see how that could happen. Thank you :)

I doubt they will refund anything. They didn't give a crap about keeping us updated on what COULD happen or what was planned. I was told to take 12 credits to move up to Tier I. Chances to get a seat as a transfer student are ridiculously low. A lottery?! What a joke. Don't even think about getting a seat on the campus you want.

@Melle27, I noticed you're applying to Tucson, so that is probably considered separately. I am sure they are letting transfers in there since they don't have a GCU campus. But I may be wrong? What did they say? And everyone I have talked to has explained the tier thing differently. I heard it was by credits and not GPA. Anyway, it doesn't really even matter anymore.

I talked to my advisor and she told me that there are no seats for transfers. They don't even have enough seats for all of the GCU students. The tier thing was explained in the webinar. For transfers it doesn't matter what GPA you have. It's a lottery. Sheer luck. It's ridiculous.

@Melle27, I just don't get how they wouldn't have any spots in Tucson. They don't have a campus there, and I highly doubt that their students are going to travel to Tucson everyday or even move there just so they can start nursing school a semester earlier. You should contact someone else because at the meeting they said that Tucson and New Mexico didn't count in all of this because they were considered separately since there were no GCU campuses there. I guess I could see them canceling Tucson all together so that they can potentially get more clinical spots here.

Hello everyone! I feel horrible for all the drama y'all are facing. Im in my third semester at the tucson campus an i have a round table with some of the higher up people from phoenix to work out our own kinks within the program. I will definitely see if i can get some answers for you guys. If anything at least about the Tucson campus. Shutting it down wouldn't make any since because they just opened a brand new campus and i know we are prepping for the new Cohort 19 to start in August... so hopefully i can get some answers. Im cheering for you guys!!
