GCU ABSN

Published

Hi, I just wanted to know if anyone else is interested in going to GCU's ABSN program? Or if anyone is currently in this program, how is it going? I'm planning on attending Jan 2022! Thanks!

commenting to follow as well! I start 3 prereq's in January and should start the actual program at sun city in May 2022!

Hello All!

As a fellow Southern Californian (Riverside specifically), I was considering applying to the ABSN program at GCU for May or Fall 2022, but so far all I have seen are mixed reviews. So far, how do you all feel about the program? I have been really torn about the California schools ?

*I still need to take Micro and Patho before I can actually attend

Hi all.

Just spoke with a GCU advisor, I am applying for fall 2022. I need to take the HESI still. I also need to take patho, nutrition and christian worldview over Summer ? its a lot but I am determined to get in this program. My first choice is tuscon! I am stressed because I am a community college transfer from San Diego and taking 3 university classes for the first time and at the same time along with stress because of the HESI!

hi everyone ! I plan on starting fall 2022 I have a bachelors & just need to take my HESI , christian worldview & pathophysiology. I’ve been trying to find a CC to take patho at to save me some $$ but I might end up just taking it at gcu.

I’m also from los angeles, california so I’ll be moving to arozona for the program & I plan to come back and practice in california.

I hope to find some roommates, it’s very nice to meet you all ?

Hi! Which location are you going to?

My advisor recommended Study.com for a lot of the prereqs! I'll be taking pathophys through that site too. Super easy to use and the credits are transferrable. Also VERY affordable. I have to take CWV through them though ofc LOL

@Cindy Sermonia hi ! nice to meet you ! im taking patho online at gcu & I didn’t know they had it on study.com ! ??? LOL I also have to take the HESI probably next month !

You too ? Yeah I saw on the transferrable courses! But I'm confirming it with my advisor first LOL. I'm studying for the HESI RN and it's not terrible I think lmao

My advisor said we can't take Pathophysiology through study.com since it is different than Applied Pathophysiology. You can take Applied Nutrition and Microbiology w/lab through study.com though. Applied Pathophysiology you can take through Portage Learning.

Have you taken Nutrition and Micro yet? I am working on Nutrition right now on study.com and nervous about taking Micro.

Oh nooo. Okay yeah I'll have to talk about taking applied pathophysio through that instead. Have you taken it yet?

And yes I have completed both of those through study.com! Micro isn't terrible but the lab is through labster which is not very intuitive and very time-consuming.. ?

I signed up a few days ago, but have not started yet. Looks like the labs are videos with note taking. I will update once I start 8n a few weeks. They give 6 months to start, 12 months to finish and it is self paced.

If anyone is missing their Chemistry, anatomy, pathophysiology, or lifespan development prerequisite for the GCU ABSN program, Rio Salado is a community college in Arizona that offers those courses online! I took 2 of my prereq courses there and it was a lot cheaper than taking them through GCU.

These are the courses at Rio Salado that transfer to GCU:

Chemistry and lab CHM130/CHM130L

Anatomy BIO202

Pathophysiology HCR240

Lifespan development PSY240

I’m not sure about Microbiology!

I was planning on starting the program in January 2023 at the Sun City location, maybe even Nevada. Anyone else planning to start next January?
