GCU ABSN

Published

Hi, I just wanted to know if anyone else is interested in going to GCU's ABSN program? Or if anyone is currently in this program, how is it going? I'm planning on attending Jan 2022! Thanks!

I'm currently taking Patho and Nutrition. I'll be taking Chemistry and Christian Worldview in the fall ! Not too excited for Chemistry ?

Do you live in the Tucson area?

Good luck! And nope, I’m from Southern California so I will be making the big move in august ?. Are you from AZ?

@tenthtribeThe course that started this last Monday? I'm also registered in that course. I'm hoping to start the ABSN this September at Las Vegas location. I'm a bit nervous because I spoke to my advisor and asked her regarding relocation and the Las Vegas campus she hasn't given me enough info, I'm not familiar with Las Vegas but I heard it'll be in North Las Vegas and that area isn't that safe. I also applied to Roseman ABSN which starts in October and its located in Henderson, all I need is a Chem and the TEAS score for that program but GCU made me repeat many of my basic courses that I had on my transcripts such as Nutrition, college math, Life span psych and Patho. I'm taking them all at study.com and I'm registered to Nevada & U.S. constitution and CWV at GCU online, I also have to study for the HESI by the end of July. Would you know anything about the las Vegas campus? I might just fly for the labs/clinical and sims weekly.

Thanks! I moved here from Texas in 2020, originally from Northern California. Good luck with the move!

@Athnea yes the one that just started June 20th. & yessss I’m super nervous ! there’s no info about the LV location online.. & wow you took pathophysiology through study.com ? I literally paid almost 2k for that class though gcu… & I would need to start looking at housing options in LV, but wow I didn’t even think about flying out for clinicals  !

Hi! What math did you have before you had to retake college math?

So I asked about relocation to the Vegas location and it would mean takking another prerequisite specific to nevada. Anyone take the Nevada course? Who is startthe Fall?

When do you start the Navada US constitution class. I am trying to find one. I know Roseman requires that class and it has to be done by the last block (or maybe sooner).

@ForeverStudentRN I actually started June 20th through GCU.

your gcu advisor should be able to tell u when’s  the next starting date for the class

Nope no information yet regarding the campus. However, I keep hearing about how nice it's going to be. & I thought someone said it would be in Henderson. Not sure. However, if it is in North Las Vegas, Im sure it will be in the nicer area. Most of North Las Vegas North of Craig road is very much new and has been built within the last couple of years and still new homes/stores are being built. I love in North Las Vegas and have not complaints. My area is very nice.

To everyone who is in the program or have already completed the secondary review process, how long did it take for the official acceptance letter to come out?

I'm currently a student in the Phoenix program and I don't suggest flying out weekly for your labs/clinicals/sims. You might be able to get away with it during first semester, but I don't think it'll be cost effective for all the future semesters. You might have clinical on Monday, lab on Wednesday, then sims are thrown in there randomly. I think it would take a lot of time and money to fly back and forth, and I definitely could not afford it! I moved out to phoenix from norcal and I love it!

Thank you. I also did my research, I didn't want lose my seniority at where I work at but I'm planning to going on call and get a loan and move to Las Vegas for the program. I have no choice but to fly back and forth for the first semester until I relocate. Any recommendation for apartments and or rooms in the Las Vegas location? safe and affordable locations?
