Hi, I just wanted to know if anyone else is interested in going to GCU's ABSN program? Or if anyone is currently in this program, how is it going? I'm planning on attending Jan 2022! Thanks!
Hi! I’m graduating in 2 weeks from the sun city campus in Phoenix, AZ. My opinion: there’s going to be issues with any nursing school. I had some gripes, mostly with last minute changes and lack of communication. At the end of the day, if you’re used to online school, teaching yourself with supplied materials, are flexible, and are a self-motivator, it’s not a bad way to quickly get your BSN.
I feel ready to take the NCLEX and really feel like we will have a 100% first time pass rate in my cohort. My class started with 24 people I think and we now have 17. Each semester gets easier and more fun, the last semester is a lot of busy work online and mostly dedicated to passing the NCLEX and getting you a job. From what I’ve heard from my friends in other nursing schools in Az, we have had better clinical experiences and opportunities… I was annoyed that we spent our critical care rotation in the PCU. That didn’t happen to everyone though. PS you will only be doing clinicals at Banner Hospitals and they could be really far from campus, but they try their best to get nearby hospitals. Also, MOST of the instructors/staff are incredibly kind and caring.
I don’t think it’s a school I’d sit on a waitlist for, but if you are trying to be a nurse ASAP it’s fast, easy to get into, and they do care about their first time NCLEX pass rates unlike some other turn and burn colleges. I already secured a job on the unit I did my nurse residency in which is in the trauma ICU at a huge level 1 trauma center! That’s good enough for me!

Thanks for your comment. This was so reassuring to read. How's scheduling? I know for the most part lectures and classes are online, but what time during the day are clinicals? I read that it was mainly in the evening, but I've heard that it can be during the day too.

Planning on starting the January '23 term too. Have you heard of any other updates from past classes? I tried searching the web, but cannot find any recent information.

the online orientation is not mandatory per se but the in person orientation at the school site that you will be attending is mandatory because you will be getting your ID cards and all items/information you need regarding the program.
Hey, I just got done taking Patho, Stats and Psy on study.com, will be taking CWV in a few days. Goal is to start in Spring. I am currently studying to take my HESI end of Oct. please need study tips, I am really struggling with the reading comprehension.
I will be attending the Tucson location.
@ChemistryRNHey there! I have some questions about the program, I was told its Mon-Fir 8am-4pm, when are the clinical and do you get any vacation or holiday breaks during the program? I live in East Mesa, and will be traveling an hour to Sun City, I have an anticipated start date of Sept 2023, however I am hoping with the help of study.com I can get in for May 2023!
