GCC Glendale Community College ADN Program Summer 2020

U.S.A. California

Hi everyone! I applied to Glendale's RN program and waiting for invitation email to take the TEAS. Did anyone apply to any other schools besides Glendale? I applied to Mt.SAC's RN program as well but I know I'm not going to be selected since it's a point-based system and my points are pretty low

This is my second time applying..... got denied again...... this is devastating!!???? I guess it’s just luck then. My stats are not great either I have a 3.6 GPA OVERALL and a 3.0 SCIENCE with only a 78% on my TEAS.. now it’s the waiting for COC, LAVC, LAPC to send their response. At this point I’ve lost hope....

This was my first time applying to GCC and I didn't get in either. I believe I have pretty good stats considering I got in LA County's program which is where I will be attending. I highly recommend looking into programs that are not based on the lottery system. You definitely have great stats too and it's worth a try. It can discouraging with these lottery selection programs but don't forget its all based on luck which I think is not fair! Please don't lose hope! You have the passion and stats for nursing school, you just need to expand your options and keep trying!!

Thanks! Sammie I’ll keep trying I’m even thinking about checking out Glendale career even though it’s expensive I just hate the waiting at cc even though I know it’s worth it

Does anyone know how much time in between TEAS exams we need to wait in order for it to count as first attempt again?

I'm curious about this too! Anybody know? Or maybe the first attempt IS the first attempt?

I read somewhere that after a certain time you can take it again and have it count as the first attempt but now I can’t find that. Maybe I dreamt it ?

If you or anyone else selected wants to buy the NS 200 and NS205 books, I have them. I bought them with some highlighting on them but they are in good shape. Theses were them last semester, if they’re the same and you want them for cheaper than the other places, let me know!

I'm currently finishing my first semester, and from what I've heard they are switching books! So don't jump the gun on buying books yet!

It was also my first time applying at GCC, luckily I got into COC but I do agree that the lottery system can be difficult to get into due to the high volume of applicants. I also recommend point systems. Good luck to everybody and keep trying!

Hey New GCC Students!

I have a few books to give away:

Fundamentals of Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, and Calculate with Confidence.

Please let me know if you want to pick them up!

@Brisi04 I read somewhere that if you can, sometimes you can boost your GPA by taking courses over, to give yourself an added edge. Also any volunteering you can do if you can do that. If you're close to an associate's degree you can wrap that up to also get an extra edge.

@blueestar @workingsmartnothard I believe each school is different in the time they permit between scores, but so far from what I recall most of the schools around this area it is 12 months which is quite a good stretch of time before you can retake and have the new score count.
