  1. I actually ended up accepting the job from the first hospital. The second hospital was asking for a 3 year contract on the Telemetry floor (which is now a covid floor) and the first hospital only has a 2 year contract on the CVDOU floor (no covid). I figure I will just get experience and move to a magnet hospital after my contract is done. Thank you for responding though!
  2. I have not heard anything either, but I'm assuming if they haven't contacted us already it's probably not a good sign LOL
  3. Hello all, I am a new graduate nurse, graduated in Dec. 2019, and have been applying to countless new grad programs for 7 months. I have an interview for the tele unit at my dream hospital next week. I've established great rapport with the DON, he even stated on our phone call that he thinks I'll be working for him in the future. In the mean time, I interviewed for another new grad program and got an offer for the job. I verbally accepted the offer, but I am still planning on going to the interview next week. In the event that I get the the offer for my dream hospital, what are my options for backing out of my initial offer? I don't want to burn bridges and will know if I got the tele job before I start orientation at the other hospital, but I have been wanting to work at this hospital since nursing school. But I also feel very blessed to have this other offer. I'm very conflicted. Thanks in advance for your advice!
  4. Keep applying for jobs while working there if possible! You graduated in May and just got your NCLEX, you have another 9-10 months to be considered a new grad for most residency programs! Keep applying everywhere and anywhere you can, most of the people I know who graduated with me in December still can't secure a new grad position, and I've been applying for since January and am barely moving along with the process. Hang in there!
  5. around 3 weeks I think was this a telemetry interview? were they able to tell you when you would hear back from them? I have an interview with med-surg/oncology on Monday so I just want to prepare as much as possible.
  6. CONGRATS on your interviews! Were there a lot of clinical case scenario questions? Or was it mostly behavioral?
  7. Hello all, I just had an interview today, and I remembered some of the questions that were asked of me, and I want to know how best to answer these questions. Any help would be appreciated, as I have an interview coming up with my dream hospital on a telemetry unit and I want to make sure I answer the questions correctly, and I'm unable to get feedback from the interviewers for these specific questions. Again, any help would be deeply appreciated. I really want to get this job and I know these questions are my weak point. 1) A patient has been in bed for two weeks and you find he has a RR of 40 and SOB, what do you anticipate, what nursing actions do you perform? I made the mistake of saying check s/s for sepsis, but now I feel like the right answer is raise HOB, provide 02, check lung sounds, and anticipate PE. is this correct? 2) You see a nurse putting a patient's life in jeopardy, what do you do? I said that you would remain with the patient and call for help, assess the patient and make sure he is not in danger anymore and wait for help to arrive. 3) Patient is receiving morphine and you come to find him barely responsive, how do you proceed? For this question I put assess the patient, and anticipate administering narcan. 4) Doctor has a patient with a lasix order and an order for an IV bag NS, what do you do? I said to question the order as this is a contraindicated in a patient who requires lasix. 5) You have two patients, one has a BP of 70/40 and toe other is having a reaction to a blood transfusion, how do you prioritize? this was the trickiest question for me, and I said call for help, stop the blood transfusion, make sure the patient is stable and go check on the BP patient. I'm not sure how to answer these questions in a way that shows my critical thinking skills. Thank you all for your help, I want to do well on this upcoming interview but I'm not sure how to proceed with these tricky questions.
  8. I don’t think so! My friends hasn’t changed either but another friend of mine had already received a rejection letter, so Let’s stay positive! I contacted talent acquisition and they said they don’t give out hiring manager info but if we want updates we can contact Nazly Kaufman, she’s the recruiter.
  9. I have not heard anything yet. Has anyone reached out to HR?
  10. Has anyone else received a call or text from them? I’m under manager review for a few but have not heard anything as of yet.
  11. I'm thinking of maybe reaching out to the recruiter tomorrow to get some info. I'll update on this forum if I reach anyone.
  12. has anyone gotten an update on the Orthopedics floor med-surg position? The rest were oncology that changed to med-surg but there is one Ortho position that I'm wondering about.
  13. A friend of mine got a rejection email from the med-surg position so I think it's safe to say they are still sorting it out ? ! Good luck to us ❤️
  14. Haha me too! Did you get a text as well?
  15. I've noticed the positions that previously said Oncology are all under Med-Surg now.
