Galen College

U.S.A. Kentucky

Just thought I would start a new thread about Galen. Anything and everything Galen can be posted here! Please feel free to share, or ask questions!

I am still waiting on my acceptance letter, and am going crazy:bugeyes:! Hopefully, I will be starting July 27th.:yeah:

Specializes in none yet!.

I picked up my scrubs and white pants from Cardinal Uniform today. FYI: The ceil blue scrubs have Galen embroidered on them, so you can't just go anywhere to purchase them. Also, the sales lady said she was glad I didn't wait until the last minute b/c a lot of students do, and then can't find the size they need. She also told me that the scrubs do not shrink. I tried on a pair of Danskos while I was there. I did not like them at all! They're really hard.

Hey preemiemama! So, you can buy the ceil blue scrubs from Cardinal Uniforms and they already have Galen embroidered on them? Can we buy the white pants anywhere or do we have to buy them from Cardinal Uniforms too?

Specializes in none yet!.

You can buy the white pants anywhere. I just bought these solid white Nike Shox on Ebay if anyone is interested:

Hey Everyone!!!

My name is Allison. I am twenty years old graduated highschool in 2007 and kinda slacked off on the college area of my life. I have been researching several nursing programs in Louisville for the past couple of months and have ran accross Galin and fell in love! I have always been intrested in Nursing and would love to get my BSN and specalize in Labor and Delivary or in the NICU. I am glad to hear that all of you got accepted!! Congrats to all of you! I feel so far behind!! But you have to start somewhere!!! Now since I am new to the process I just wanted to know if anyone knew where I would begin to get started on the CPAT or how I could begin to study for it?? I joined the facebook group that was posted and hopefully we will be able to chat on there too if anyone has any tips it would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks,

Allison :)

Hi Allison! Don't worry, you are not behind! You are only 20, you are still very young! We are all over 30 and going back to school! Just call Galen at 502 410-6200 and ask to schedule an appointment to take a tour. They will give you all of the information that you need and an application to fill out. Also, I wouldn't worry too much about the admissions test. It was extremely easy! My husband has been out of school since 1986 so I downloaded sample CPAT tests off of the internet and we went over them and studied for about a month. We were very prepared for a difficult test , but when we received the test, it was simple. When you turn in your application, they will schedule you for the test! Good luck to you!

Thanks for the links! I need to get busy buying my scrubs and equipment. I am really getting excited. I have been looking at various state's hospital websites and searching for RN jobs. Some states are offering $5000 and $10000 sign on bonuses plus relocation reimbursement. I hope that it stays that way, I would like to end up in Vegas or California!

Kayleeandjacob be careful with those sites. They are overseas and very similar to the one I ordered from. I ended up disputing them and getting my money back. So, just be careful:)

really... interesting. I will have to look into them a little more. Thanks for the heads up!! :)

You guys are making me nervous. I have not done anything. I am waiting until I have my apt. with fin. aid. I want to make sure I can get loans or whatever to pay for this! My apt. is on thursday. I feel like I am in limbo again. lol

Hi Acorne! I had my financial aid appointment on May 19th and I haven't purchased anything yet. I still have to get shoes, uniforms, and equipment. Also books, but they will not put the new book list on until sometime in July.

I did purchase one book though. I found the new edition of the Medical Terminology on ebay, brand new with the access code and cd for $30, so I went ahead and got it so that I could learn some of the information before classes start.

Anyways, you are fine. There is really nothing that you can do until you get through your financial aid appointment and make sure that everything is going to work out there. I don't think that any of us has had any

problems at the fin. aid appt., so it should be fine!

I think that the medical stuff is a pain myself. If you have your childhood records, then you are good.

Good luck at your appointment!

Sonya

Hey acorne. Sonya is right. The medical stuff is the most complicated. I have already been to my doctor twice and have to go back the first of July to finish things up. If you are going to do the Hep B series you may want to get started with that ASAP. It's a series of 3 shots. Shot 1 is done now then you have to wait a month for shot 2 and then 5 months for shot 3. I assume Galen will be ok with having just shots 1 and 2 since there is no way we can have the third done before classes start. Don't worry acorne it will all work out. The financial aid appt was a breeze by the way.

Hey everyone who is still on for Mike Linnings?
