Ga Board of Nurses by Endorsement questions & Frustrations

Hi, just wanted to vent first. I am trying to transfer my license to Ga. Every time I call them with a question, I am put on hold from 30min to an hour. I'm trying to get my questions organized so I don't need to call them back but Grrrrr.... Just had a few more questions and have been on hold for 50 minutes so far.

My question... If my current state participates in Nursys do I need to send that paperwork to my state that they require (proving you are licensed... Sending it to the state where you are licensed)? Should I turn my application in before I register for the website to get fingerprinted? The lady u talked with at cogentin or whatever it's called said usually you get your app in first bc fingerprints only last for 30 days. What else should I print with my application? Marriage license? I recently got married. Nursing license, social security card, and drivers license. This is a big head ache. Thanks for your help.

GA Board of Nursing received my application for endorsement in 1/15/2014. I received my license yesterday on 1/21/2014 .... 6 days later. I didn't know what to expect because of what I read here about it taking months to get. I was in shock to say the least. If you wanna know how I did it, I'll be happy to let you know. But its just like they tell you in advance... if your application is missing anything, the process will be delayed. It your application has everything, it will be a breeze. It was smooth & easy but there are some things on the application that if not careful its very easy to miss. I went over it with a fine tooth comb before I sent it out. IT CAN BE DONE!!! Been working has a RN for 10 years.

Hello Hubgirl. I would really appreciate if you would tell me how you did your whole process... My main question is where did you get your fingerprints done and if you did it before or after applying for endorsement. Also did you submit proof of your licensure through nursys.com? thank you so much!

tallchica... I know this is an old tread but would you please tell me if you did your fingerprints in GA or another state and also if you sent both nursys.com verification as well as your nursing board verification? Thanks!!!

I am having a similar issue with completing the application packet for my GA License. On the license application it says that you need register with the Cogent systems for the background check, so I went to the GAPS website to fill out that application. When attempting to fill out the GAPS appl, it asks me for an ORI/OAC number and verification. I called Gaps to find out about the ORI/OAC, and they told be I needed to get the numbers from the nursing board which is my big problem because I have called several times an I can't get a hold of a live person. I am not moving to GA until Late June but this is ridiculous! Does anyone know if this ORI/OAC Is age rail,same number that everyone would have to use for the ga app? If so can someone be gracious enough to tell me what it is?

Hi there, i thinking about moving to ga. I will take my NClex in ga. I will have an associate in nursing. From your experiencs would you say i will be hard for me to find a job with no Bsn and no experience

Did you request your transcript be sent to GA BON or did you mail it in with your application?

I know this thread is old but I had the same question about whether or not we had to fill out the license verification form from the website if we had done the license verification through Nursys.com . A Georgia BON rep just informed me that they don't send license verifications through Nursys.com but they do accept them so you don't have to fill out and submit the paper form if you went through nursys.com. Hope this helps others with the process in the future!

I just spoke to the georgia board today and they told me you don't have to mail in the license verification if you submitted it online through nursys.com

I am finally getting everything together to send in. I have to get my employer to verify my hours, which could potentially be a pain. We'll see how it goes! I anticipate sending my stuff in next week.
