Hey all! Haven't posted in quite awhile, but wanted to share this!
I work in a LTC facility as a CNA while going to school for my RN. Last night, after dinner, I was wheeling a resident back to her room. Some nights she's with it, some not....last night was one of her good nights.
Anyway....there I was wheeling her back, and we were chatting, when all of a sudden I hear "ahhhhhhCHOO!!" and see her bottom teeth projectiling out of her mouth! Omg, I swear those puppies flew about six feet out of her mouth, and I almost peed myself I was laughing so hard! :rotfl: She was laughing too, we both had tears running down our face.
Oh dear me, now THIS is just one of the many reasons why I do what I do!
Thanks for reading! Maybe you just had to be there, but I STILL get the giggles every time I think about it!

Been there, too....and have shared the laughter, as well. There are many reasons I stay in LTC, and I enjoy those rare moments that provide a smile during my busy night! I like your sense of humor!!!

I miss long term care for those reasons. So much to giggle about, laugh about but too much paper work to get to relish in those moments....

This reminded me of my mom who was in a nursing home for 2 weeks after her stroke. Toward the end, we were trying to teach her how to use the wheelchair. She refused to learn how to use it.
Then a wild idea occur to me and I went "Mom, see the nurse in front of me, run her over with the wheelchair!". A light beamed in her eye, a wicked smile appear on her face, and she start to learn how to use the wheelchair to run over the nurse. The nurse cooperated and went "Oh no! Don't run me over! Help! Help!" and pretend to run away.

I knew other fellow nurses/students would appreciate that! :)
Dan, too funny about your mom and her wheelchair! It's strange how sometimes it takes being a little bit onery to get people to do stuff. :chuckle

I just love those "moments". From now on you two will have a little inside joke you can share with eachother.

During my first quarter as a nursing student, I was in LTC. One lady was complaining about not being able to find her teeth. We looked all over. Another resident who shares the room was in the hallway in her WC, with this little half-grin. She wasn't sitting in her chair straight, so my instructor helped me to reposition her - and voila! the missing teeth were there under her arm - she had taken them off the counter and was hiding them... Sooo funny - we had a good laugh from that one. :rotfl:
