We all have had them - Funny and sometimes scary nursing related dreams. I had one today.
I was at work witha terrible assignment....40 Tele patients by myself.....As I went room to room assessing my patients and passing meds....An elephant (yes an elephant) with Cher on top of it comes crashing down the hallway. Cher says to me, "I need antibiotics for MRSA....I usually drive but this elephant comes in handy to speed things along." Then as if this dream is not funny enough, My patients begin to gather around me, the elephant and Cher in the hallway in a circular formation and begin to sing "If I Could Turn Back Time".
I have dreams about work fairly frequently. Most recently I had a good night at work ending badly with the OBGYN being furious at me for her missing a delivery (it took her 14 min to get there)...anyway, I dreamt that I got off work, went to the store and she was there pushing carts. I didn't even feel bad for her, just thought "hmm, must be losing patients and has to take a second job" then proceded with shopping. It was a good dream
I know I've had nursing dreams. But none of them are currently coming to mind right now!
I do know that I've fallen asleep in mid-sentence with my Mom about a story we're writing together and then have startled awake really disoriented and muttering something about IV drips. Ah, the fun of switching from days to nights!
I had a dream that one of the reisdents was in my house. I had to find a way for her to stay at my house. This lady is mentally retarded and is often screaming or rolling around on the floor striping. It was very stressful keeping her at my house! LOL
I have had many dreams of the never ending callight! Those are the ones that you wake up exhausted.
When I started my job I think I freamed everynight about work!
When I was an aide I worked with an awesome nurse and luckily I still work with her but I dreamed that she and another nurse were putting a metal peg tube in me. It was one of those dreams that felt lime it was really happening and I kept telling her I could eat and not to put it in. We still laugh about it. Last week I took 2 days off and dreamed that my med cart was full of navy blue lancets and no meds. My next day at work that was the first thing I checked lol .
The other night I had a dream that one of the residents was in my vehicle naked. We were on our way to a stock show or something and I could not keep clothes on her. By the end of the drive I was covered in BM and was fighting with the other person in the car about stopping at the house to change my clothes and get some clothes on my naked friend before going to the stock show! LOL
My first week as a nurse i would work in my sleep(dreaming about working) i would wake up more exausted than when i went to sleep. The dream i remember the most is that i kept getting the wrong medications for pts. from the pharmacy.

My worst one was when I dreamt I was on my very very last final away from passing nursing school. I was freaking out studying and... I. Slept. Through. The. Final. I was so jolted from it, I woke up panicking and started running to the PC so I could apologize and beg my instructor and dean to let me take the exam! Hahahahaha.. not so funny then but it is now =p
I dreamed that I was pulling an NG tube and it just kept going and going like the magicians scarf trick. The patient was gagging and I was pulling as fast as I could. The tube was coiling on the floor like a snake.

Oh, I am glad I'm not the only one who dreams about work then wakes up exhausted. What I especially hate is coming off one shift, sleeping (and dreaming about work), then having to go right back in for another. Really? 36 hours of thinking about work is enough!
This is how you know I'm having a long week at school: We're in anatomy class, the lady who sits next to me and is sweet but asks loads of questions.......asks a question......then grows five heads, all of which start asking questions.
