Funny dreams about your job as a nurse

Nurses Humor

I dreamed one night that I was in charge and this one lady patient we had was dying. Her dx? "Chinese Toe Disease". Anyway, I dreamed her toes all fell off and she died. I called the doctor to report it and told him her toes had all fallen off...the doctor said "There's no bringing them back when the toes go" and so I proceeded to call the funeral home. I put her toes in a baggie and ran after the heorifice because the coroner had forgotten to take her toes.

Another dream: I dreamed the 2 halls of patients we had were fighting with each other over which batteries were the best: Energizer or Duracell.

Tell me your funny dreams!

Blessings, Michelle

]When I was a waitress, I always had a dream that I was the only one working and suddenly people were lined up around to corner to come eat!

]My favorite work related dream was a crazy one.

]There was an older male patient sitting in the hallway in a Geri chair, having a nice visit with a well-dressed gentleman. Suddenly, the visitor stabbed the patient in the jugular, and blood began to shoot everywhere, very Texas Chainsaw Massacre-esque. Terrified, I ran to find another nurse or ANYONE, for that matter (of course I was the only person working on the floor, right?) and I found two of the most experienced nurses from my department...on a screened in porch, smoking. I told them what had happened and they didn't care. I woke up and was so shaken I couldn't go back to sleep. But that's not even the best part. I knew the murdering visitor was familiar to me, but I couldn't place him. A few days later, when I did go back to work, I was walking by a surgical attending...and I realized...it was HIM! I was a bit freaked out, especially since this physician is very nice!

In nursing school, I found that my dreams often coincided with the topics we were covering in school. When we were studying the pancreas, I had a dream in which my fiance had a child from a previous marriage and was giving her pineapple juice with her lunch. I ended up waking up my fiance with my sleeptalking, frantically asking him whether his daughter was diabetic. I chastised him for giving her pineapple juice, since she was prone to hyperglycemia. In reality, neither of us have ever been married and he has no children!

:selfbonk:One of my recurring nursing dreams is SOOOO embarassing, that I have trouble at work because I keep remembering it !! I dream that I didn't put my uniform top on, and went to work with pants, shoes, hair all done, but my breasts bare and swingin'! For some reason, it seemed perfectly reasonable when I got dressed and drove in. Even during patinet handover it was OK. Only when I started to do rounds with the paediatrician did it occur to me that he was looking at my chest rather than my face. I wound smile and pretend nothing was wrong, 'casually' trying to cover myself up. My embarrassment would rise as the paediatrician, too, tried to ignore my lack of dress. We would finish the round, and I wound run away down the hall to hide.

The first time I had this dream, I worked witha that doctor the very next day! He's a sweet, polite middle-aged Englishman. (And no, I don't have a crush oh him!) I found it SO difficult to look at him normally, remembering how in my dream I'd paraded around shamelessly in front of him.

hmmm...maybe you subconsciously wished you could be more bold with him--maybe not parade around topless, but look at him and talk to him?

In my dream, a young male CNA kept telling me every time I saw him that "My member hurts." Over and over, "My member hurts." And so I was trying to assess him via questions without a visual. When he finally agreed to let me see what the problem was, we walked in a bathroom and I woke up. Still can't help but chuckle when I see him walking into the BR...

I had a dream one night when I was still working as a Post partum and nursery nurse. I dreamt that I had a bucket full of babies in the back of my car that were stacked like "russian dolls" and they all were crying, wet and needed to be fed. The dream occurred during an extremely busy week where we had 7-10 deliveries each night. Needless to say, I moved to a different type of nursing after I had the dream over and over and over again for about a month.

I had a dream one night, soon after we had a big expansion project at my hospital. When I got off of the elevator, there were slot machinges and craps tables near the ICU family waiting room! Really, freaked me out. When I went to the cafeteria--- it was an all -u- can-eat buffett!

I have work dreams all the time. When I wake up I feel tired, like I have been working all night.

On one of my first days as charge on med/surg I had a very busy day (12 hours) plus the last 4 were without secretary. Needless to say I dreamt about charts all night long. I used to have my alarm clock set for 5:05 am (why that number I don't know). So when it went off I look at it and said "now what does she want this time!" (thinking it was the call alarm going off again). I keep laying on my side, after two min. of staring at the clock hearing it go off start to realise its not the call light, and dh trying to nudge me gently saying "are you going to get that". Man I was never so tired going back to work that day.

My clock is also set for 5:05 AM. Too lazy to have to hit a snooze button? lol Don't you hate it when you dream all night long and then have to work?..It's like working a double without the pay.

My favorite is when: I was dreaming I was was working nights on the psych unit (before I actually did). Anyway, I dreamed that I lay down in an empty patient bed to take a nap and was awakened by the day shift. I put my pants back on, (What??)... then I woke up from my dream.

That reminds me, had several where I was sleeping in a patient bed completely naked with patients sleeping in the bed next to me and of course these were patients that I was charged with their care...just very akward. I hate the naked dreams.

LOL Yes, the naked dream. I had my first just before my surgery. I was wondering around the bowels of hospital naked, trying to find my way to surgery. Funny thing...nobody in my dream seemed to care. LOL
