FSW Spring 2018

Published

It's a bit early, I know. I just wanted to start a thread for all of those looking down the road planning to apply to FSW this fall for the spring 2018 program start..

I'm planning on applying to the Charlotte campus for the Evening/Weekend (ANEW) schedule format.

What campus are you planning on applying to?

What classes are you trying to finish up before applying in Sept/Oct?

What program schedule format will you be choosing (Daytime or evening/weekend)?

Did you take the TEAS VI exam and how did you do?

I look forward to the discussion over the next few months!!

You can use your own equipment if you like. I am a first semester student in the traditional program at the collier campus. The main challenge I am having is in pharmacology. It's online and we have the tests on campus. The tests consists of 10-15 chapters of drug classes, symptoms, etc. It's hard to study for because of the amount of information that are in each chapter and not knowing which will be on the tests. We get study guides but they are very vague. My other classes are more manageable.

There are more good days than bad. I enjoy the hands on experience more than the studying aspect because it can become tedious. I honestly thought first semester would be more difficult but I'm doing ok so far with the exception of my pharmacology class.

So would you say that the first semester is the most challenging since it includes pharmacology? Do they let you know which semesters will be most difficult on the syllabus when you start? I will be entering the program with 4 pre-req classes still left to complete (including microbiology), so I will need to add an extra class to each semester of the nursing program since our program is only 18 months and runs through the summer.

I can't really answer your first question due to the fact that I don't know what the next 3 semesters entails because I'm still in my first. They don't mention how difficult each semester will be but I would assume as as you go through the program there will be more responsibilities. In your case, good time management is important.

Has anyone here finished all the to-do lists? May I ask you some questions?

1. I have a few social security alerts on my background check result. What are they? Do you have any of them as well?

2. On the to-do lists, under "FD87 Florida FDLE Fingerprints - Daon", the 4th step is incomplete. Are all of us waiting for the response from school on November 28th to complete step 4?

Thank you for your help. :)

Yes, I just did my fingerprinting yesterday and did my drug test and background check last week. Like you, my 4th box says incomplete. I read somewhere on that site that it take 24-48 hours for the reports to be analyzed. I assume that once all the documents have been analyzed it will show that it is complete and that we are eligible for placement prior to getting the packets. Because if there is an issue with one of our checks, we need time to correct it before the Nov 28 deadline But I'm just guessing..

I did the fingerprints last Friday. :o

Oh wow, really... maybe it takes a bit longer then..

I am also waiting for the fingerprint results to come back. My fingerprints were done 11/9, and it still shows step 4 as being incomplete.

I've noticed the teal, purple, and white nursing polos they sell in the bookstore... Are we able to wear those colors for class when we're are not in nursing attire? (Also waiting for my fingerprints to clear)

I spoke with the nursing adviser today about a few things and she mentioned that we will likely not hear back about the results of the checks/tests until Nov 28th. I guess we will wait and see..

I'm not sure if it applies to anyone else's situation, but I found out today that it is possible to finish the ANEW nursing program and then spend an extra semester afterward finishing up prerequisite classes. This may be the route I take since I will still need to finish 4 classes and I don't want to weigh myself down too much. Still not sure what I'm going to do...

So after we get our drug test, background and fingerprints we just wait for the 28th now?
