It's a bit early, I know. I just wanted to start a thread for all of those looking down the road planning to apply to FSW this fall for the spring 2018 program start..
I'm planning on applying to the Charlotte campus for the Evening/Weekend (ANEW) schedule format.
What campus are you planning on applying to?
What classes are you trying to finish up before applying in Sept/Oct?
What program schedule format will you be choosing (Daytime or evening/weekend)?
Did you take the TEAS VI exam and how did you do?
I look forward to the discussion over the next few months!!
Ya, I already have my stethoscope, scissors, and hemostat. I plan to start shopping for a BP cuff and some of the other things I need now that its official. I'm assuming we will need a clip board but I'm not sure if the program or our clinical sites will have a preference on what we use.
How did you all find out exactly what was needed? I'm worried about purchasing the wrong things...
I'm guessing that the information will be in the information packet FSW will send us on 11/28.
I'm hoping I can use the things I already have but if they're not right for the program I will have to repurchase.
I haven't actually seen a list of required supplies yet...
I went to an info session on 11/8 and the same guy who emailed everyone your Phase I email, Chris Renda, was there explaining some things, answering questions and gave us a tour. He handed out this "estimated cost sheet" which he did mention would be included in your Phase III email.
Here it shows the book bundle that is sold by FSW (which some of it you can maybe find cheaper online he said) but they have actually tried to price match and make it inexpensive for us. Well this bundle is all the books and online programs we will use for the entire program, instead of buying books each semester.
Here's estimated costs for it:
Concept-based/pharmacology/my nursing lab- $949
ATI comprehensive assesment and review program (CARP)- $565
DocuCare-vSIM- $468
ATI Dosage Calc Proctored assess/Capstone- $308
Total cost of bundle- $2,290 (now idk if you can find it cheaper, or if they allow you to purchase these things as you go. But he did state this bundle is purchased all at once before school starts in January) In which case I have been diligently searching online for any aid or even a loan I can get before school starts. I'm sure more would be explained in the Phase II email. But this is something to start thinking about.
I will be paying with some savings but I'm hoping for some type of assistance at some point since I'm no longer working.Where did you get the information about the book costs? Are we able to see a list of all of the specific textbooks that we are required to get?
That last comment from me was in response to your question. Lol I wasn't sure how to "quote" someone and just figured it out.

Awesome! Thanks for all of that information, especially regarding the books. I decided to purchase some of my books for the pre-req classes on amazon instead of the school bookstore due to cost but if the prices are very close I may just get the bundle in order to avoid complications from receiving the wrong thing.
Are the textbooks you named officially chosen for our class or are they subject to change?
Current student here. You will get a kit filled with equipment you will need. It comes with a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff and some other supplies. A clipboard is recommended for clinicals.
We appreciate you stopping in to answer some of our questions. Are we required to use equipment provided or are we allowed to use our own if we choose?
I would also like to hear your thoughts on your experience so far. Are you in the traditional or the ANEW schedule? What aspects have been most challenging for you so far?

I will be paying with credit card for now. Luckily I already have stethoscope, BP cuff, pen light, scissors... Unless they require me to purchase a certain type...
