  1. NikiRN replied to NikiRN's topic in Oncology
Hi thanks for the response! I actually interviewed with the director of med onc and surg onc and they offered me a position in Med Onc, which I accepted! She told me their patient:nurse ratio is generally 4:1, and we did go over additional training and certification requirements. I wish I would've asked about overflow but I guess at this point I'll find out soon (start the 17th ?). If there's anything you can think of that I may want to do to prepare for the position, please let me know!

Hi everyone, I am interviewing shortly with the Oncology Unit Director at a hospital and really hopeful to get this job. Can anyone offer any advice for a new registered nurse looking to get into oncology? What questions should I ask when interviewing? Is there anything I should research prior to the interview? What can I expect in beginning this career path? Thanks so much in advance for any input!
  3. I'll be working Monday through Friday 8-3. Unfortunately. If I had the choice I wouldn't work while in the nursing program but I do have a family to help support and need health insurance so it's what is best for my family...
  4. Clean and all white leather shoes with no color logos according to the manual. I ordered a pair of k-swiss from Amazon for $33. I'll see how far those get me.
  5. I registered for clinical at GC originally just because it's a nicer, newer hospital and I know what to expect. Then I texted a cousin who has done clinical Lee Memorial, 5th floor and asked her what her experience was. She suggested that I give LM a second thought because she learned so much during clinical on the 5th floor and loved the experience. I have done clinicals at GC on the 4th floor already (med/surg) so I think I'm going to switch to LM to get a new experience. It's also closer for me...
  6. I registered for the same clinical and I noticed that too. I'm assuming it's a misprint.
  7. I did because of timing conflict. So I changed it to the other pharmacology option. I see now it's because they're considered blended classes and actually have a "class time".
  8. Thanks. Just registered!
  9. Right. In that case it may have to wait until nap-time. Everything is on baby's time at that age.

  11. Huh. Now you have something to keep you busy for the next couple of hours. :)
  12. I realize it didn't show the link but it was in the acceptance packet under "orientation"
  13. Weiny, I was able to complete the orientation by self enrolling in the canvas course here: FSW Login Is this the link you had an issue accessing?
  14. I hope we get it soon! I'm actually going for a job interview tomorrow and would like to be able to give them any information that might require a day off in the near future (such as orientation). Wish me luck!
  15. We can't register for classes yet. I just browsed what will be offered...
