Anybody applying for the nursing program at FSW for the spring in 2017? I plan to take my TEAS sometime August or September, does anyone know what the passing score is? And have you finished all your prerequisites and general ed? The only prereqs I have left to do is A&P2, nutrition, and micro. But still have all the general eds left to do. But you don't have to have all the general eds finished before applying right? Sorry, I'm new at this.
Lots of good info, thanks! Are you in the day class or the nights/weekend class?
You mentioned that alot of self teaching is required. For you, how many hours per week do you figure is required in addition to class time to keep up with material?
Like others, I'm trying to determine how many hours of work I'd be able to put in and still do well with grades..
I'm in the full-time day program. I work three 12 hr shifts, have class two days, and one day off which is pretty much entirely dedicated to school. I also spend several hours after class each day reading and studying.
@FutureNurseM2018 Is it okay for me to ask you what chapters did you start with in your first semester? For both Pharmacology and Health and Wellness? I want to get an early start with reading. I know it might be different this semester but I at least want to have an idea of what you started with.
Has anyone else needed to use financial aid for their books in the bookstore? I keep getting told that we can only spend $1000 but all of our materials are around $1500. Just wondering if anyone found a way around this and if so, what did you do?
I got the same answer, so I went a head and purchased the book bundle, just waiting to figure out what to do about the Ati carp bundle :/
Thanks again for all the help.I forgot to mention that I plan to have comp 1 done as well. How did you find the work load for statistics compared to A&P? How about Microbiology compared to A&P?
Its good to know that they make you take those classes with the nursing school classes if they aren't already finished. So from what you are saying (if I understand correctly) you dont have the option of completing our unfinished pre req classes during the summer semester? From what I understand the nursing program classes are only during the fall and spring semesters, is that correct?
I see what you are saying about trying to get as many classes finished for the sake of points and ease of work load if accepted. On one hand I don't want to apply to early because I don't want to have too many classes that I have to take in addition to nursing school... On the other hand I don't want to wait too long in the event that I don't get accepted on the first (or even second) attempt...
Hi! I haven't been on here since before thanksgiving... Sorry for the delayed answers.
No nursing courses during the summer...you can most likely take psych and human development during the summer, but Ap2 and comp 1 have to be taken with first semester.
I took stats and AP1 together over the summer. Stats was a 6 week session and I barely survived it. Math is my absolute worst subject so it was probably a bad idea to take such an accelerated class. AP was a much heavier workload but I spent half the amount of time on it than I did with math, simply because I had such a hard time with it.
I haven't taken micro yet. I'm going to take it over the summer, so unfortunately I can't give you a comparison there.

Thank you so much for sharing all of this great info with us! I have some questions as well if you don't mind :)
1.Class is 3-4 days a week, isn't it? From what I saw it looked like 3 days regular weeks , 4 days on simulation weeks.
2.Is is homework more busy work ( papers, assignments, etc) or mostly just studying ?
3. Do you always go to the hospital the night before clinical to get patient info ?
4. For lecture only days, do you wear the polo/ your uniform ?
5. Did you get to pick your clinical day? Or do you know of anyone that was able to switch days from what they were assigned ?
Thank you so much again!!
Just wanted to check in with everyone and say hello!! Less than one month left until we start!! Hope you all had a great thanksgiving :)
Ps- regarding bookstore/financial aid... When I was there buying mine the girl working told me as soon as I asked for the bundle that with tax it went over the amount allowed to be used with financial aid on its own (before even buying the ATI card). I wasn't using aid so I'm not sure what happens... But I would imagine that you should be able to pay cash or something to make it below the $1000.

I was also wondering if anyone got it. Or if anyone has the book bundle yet and would like to share what is in it.
