Hi All,
I wanted to start a thread for the students applying to FSU in Spring 2012. I graduated from FSU in 2006 and am hoping to go back! Good luck everyone!
I didnt get in either...had an undergrad gpa of 3.7 in finance and 3.7 in my prereqs...thought I would get in...frustrating...makes me think they must be partial to fsu graduates...o well
I didn't get in and I had a 3.35 undergrad GPA and a 3.75 in my prereqs and I am also an FSU graduate so that didn't help me much;0(
Good luck to everyone in the future! It takes a lot just to be considered for an accelerated program and all of us who were considered definitely worked our tails off doing so. Luckily Florida has a large amount of accelerated programs and options so don't let this hold you back!
I read my letter and was shocked I did get in! It just seemed like there was such a small chance, I honestly was preparing myself for a let down. For future students,,, I had a GPA of 3.75ish for pre reqs and overall, I volunteer in a pre op lab at my hospital, I went to FSU for Sport Management and a Master's at UCF for Community, Family, and Child Sciences, and I have worked in the wellness field since 2004. My GPA was great, for me, but it could be better and I am still completing my Chemistry, Microbiology, and sociology classes. I really thought those were going to hold me back. I am not saying that is what you need to do to get in, by any means, but it worked for me so...
If anyone needs any help or suggestions about other programs I would be happy to help as I have researched them quite a bit (was seriuosly about to take action on Plan B for Summer 2012).
Yes, I received the letter last night at 5:35 pm after checking my mail box 5 million times. My wife stalked the mail man and I'm sure he thought we were both nuts. I don't know my exact gpa's, but they were around 3.75 for both overall and pre-req. I have a master's as well, but according to one of the advisors, they only looked at gpa and weighted it something like 60% science (or prereq) gpa and 40% overall gpa. There was no review of our resume's, backgrounds, or anything. A pretty poor way to go about it if you ask me.

You have to maintain a 75% average on the tests in the courses to pass, not everyone managed that. I also heard the first ABSN class lost a couple people during the summer as well.
Time management and the ability to differentiate between what is important and what is not helps a lot. Anyone who gets in is smart enough to get through, it's just a matter of focus and determination. It's not like college the first time, you can't screw around and party and be fine.
