FSCJ Summer 2017 Hopefuls

Published

I wanted to create a new thread for Summer 2017 hopefuls (it seems far away, but it will be here before we know it).

I am very excited to start this journey, but I have to finish a few more prereqs. I am wanting to buy a HESI A2 study book, but I am not sure which one to go with. Does anyone have any suggestions? I saw on one thread where a lady swore by Elsevier, but I want to make sure that is a good one before I buy it. Thanks in advance.

Welcome StevenC. Share where you are in the process if you'd like.

I will be taking the hesi sometime this month. Finishing my last 2 pre-reqs, a&p2 and microbio this summer!

I, too, am taking AP2 & micro this summer. At Nassau Campus hopefully.

Awesome! Have you taken the hesi yet? I was going to take it here soon and if I don't score as high as I would like I would retake it after I complete AP2 and micro. It's rough because I am also studying for the TEAS V as I am also applying for UNF's BSN program

Welcome Steven. I also am applying to UNF's BSN program. Taking the teas in 2 weeks

It's all about putting patient's rights, wellbeing, and dignity first. That's what I kept in mind as I tested. And, btw, the only studying I did was three practice tests and I only missed 3 of 50 questions on the real thing. I spent two days and two evenings before my exam practicing clinical skills. You'll do fine.

Thanks for this info! Makes me feel a little less worried. I did a 3 day crash course back in December so I've been stressing out a lot lately about forgetting some steps etc, I'm just going to do what you did and study over all my notes and FL CNA videos and hope for the best!!! Btw how did your interview go?! :)

Has anyone calculated their scores thus far yet? I've been trying to keep track of mine to kind of see where I'm sitting haha.

The interview went well from what I gathered, but they still have some more interviewees to meet with and said I would hear something in the the next week or so. I liked the two charge nurses who interviewed me. They were informal and personable, but honest about the demands of the unit. It's a med/surg floor with older patients. I'm excited about the opportunity. As far as my points right now, without AP2, Micro or HESI is in the 160s. I'm expecting to have between 195 and 210 by application deadline.

HidingSun, has the point system changed recently? I ask because there is a max of 120 on pre-reqs and 120 on the hesi, with a max of 20 points on experience with the packet I have.

That's the same max value on the packet I have. Why do you ask?

HidingSun13, how long did it take for you to get your CNA exam test date after finger prints? Im getting my fingerprints/background done on the 17th.. hopefully I wont have to wait the 4-6 weeks to get my test date like i've heard previously! I think I'm going to sign up for a refesher course as well just incase..

htadlock93, I got fingerprinted on Jan 18 and tested on Feb 10, so sometime in between there I got my testing letter. I thought that it came pretty quick, maybe a week and a half after fingerprinting? I just know that I got very nervous that testing was so quick.

Does anyone know what time night classes are in the nursing program? I am looking WAY ahead, but need a general idea.
