FSCJ Summer 2017 Hopefuls

Published

I wanted to create a new thread for Summer 2017 hopefuls (it seems far away, but it will be here before we know it).

I am very excited to start this journey, but I have to finish a few more prereqs. I am wanting to buy a HESI A2 study book, but I am not sure which one to go with. Does anyone have any suggestions? I saw on one thread where a lady swore by Elsevier, but I want to make sure that is a good one before I buy it. Thanks in advance.

FutureNurseDev, I'll also look him up as well! Unfortunately haven't taken A&P 1 at fscj, but if my A&P 2 teacher teaches the class she is a must! Her names Cornelia Albano

Haha thats who I had for CHM1020 too! I knew name was Alojzy but couldn't remember what his shortened name was haha :p So yeah definitely recommend him hes awesome!

FutureNurseDev, right now I'm in A&P1 and taking it with Maria Oehler. She is wonderful and she breaks down things to where you are really able to grasp the information. I absolutely love this class, I'm excited to take A&P2. If you do take her i would sign up as quick as possible when registration opens up because her class fills up SO fast.

I agree everyone seems so nice. Its always nice being able to talk with people who are going for the same goals as yourself :)

I'm looking forward to the app process and the learning involved in the nursing classes. I have an interview at St Vincent's on Friday for a PCT position. Send me good thoughts.

Good luck HidingSun! I'm sure you are going to do great!! Do you already have to be a certified CNA prior to being a PCT at St. Vincents? I took a CNA training course I just have to sign up for my state exam now (Ive been procrastinating because I've been so focused on my current classes im taking now :( )

Good luck to you both, taking my CNA class here soon

Htadlock93-yes to being certified before applying for PCT position. Nursing will be my second career. And I challenged the CNA exam and passed both clinicals and written first time. I spent two reviewing what I learned in my weekend cram class four months earlier and did fine.

J.molina- how long is your class?

Hidingsun, I took the class late last year in like August but not the exam so just taking the refresher course. Think the class was 3 or 4 days long

I took my cram class in Oct '15 and tested in Feb '16.

What was the exam like? Anything on the written part that I should focus on or study?

It's all about putting patient's rights, wellbeing, and dignity first. That's what I kept in mind as I tested. And, btw, the only studying I did was three practice tests and I only missed 3 of 50 questions on the real thing. I spent two days and two evenings before my exam practicing clinical skills. You'll do fine.

Another summer 2017 hopeful here!
