Hello, everyone!
Since I have not seen one started on this site, I thought I would go ahead and get the ball rolling. This thread is for anyone hoping to get into FSCJ's Nursing Program for the term starting in the Summer of 2014.
I looked into past forums. Everyone who made the cut posted how happy they were. The ones didn't ended up with the decline letter and according to them, it offered the cutoff for that semester. I just went through the forums until I found someone that posted the cutoff for that semester.
Hey everyone!! My name is Kelsey I am soooo glad I found this site with people who can relate to me. I have been stressing out that I can finally apply for Nursing School! It has been a long year, I took my NAT and did not do as well as planned but my nerves got the best of me. I am taking it again once I hit 90 days in a few weeks in hopes to do better, any tips? Have a good night!![/quote']I only got a 91.52 on the NAT. I tried to study but with it being so broad its hard. The spelling portion was ridiculous and is something I rarely have an issue with but it kicked my butt. I've thought about retaking to boost points but I don't want to deal with it again. Lol just hoping what I have is good enough :-)
Hello everyone, I'm a Fall 2014 hopeful...was trying to find a thread for the term I'm aiming for but I don't think it has been created yet. Anyways, I'm stressing out because I was REALLY looking forward to getting into the nursing program FALL 2014 but just today I saw "NEW APPLICATION DEADLINES START FALL 2014" in the most recent updated nursing booklet, and my heart just froze. I'm devastated because I thought the FALL deadline was June 1st!! I'm enrolled in A&PII, Microbiology and College Algebra for this coming SPRING 2014 which were my last prereq courses I had to complete....what sucks the most is that all of the classes I'm enrolled end on May 9, which is past the new Fall term 2014 deadline.WH---OH---WHY Did they have to change it?! If the deadline would've been like it was before (June 1st) I would've had time. I seriously have the worst luck in the world :'( All which also means that I'll have to wait til SPRING of 2015 !!! I cannot waste anymore time.... Is there Anything I can do to get into Fall 2014?? Like maybe get an excellent score on the NAT?? I'm even willing to pay out of pocket and attend a private nursing school for Fall 2014 term just to not waste anymore time, and then transfer my credits back to FSCJ nursing program, but is that even possible? I CANNOT waste anymore time, I'm willing to do anything.
Has anyone on here ever been in a similar situation? or has anyone transferred credits from a private nursing school to FSCJ?
So Far I completed:
A&PI- A
English I- B
Psych- A
Sociology- B
Human Growth- A
Hum2020- A
P.S Sorry for the rant guys, its that I'm upset because they **HAD** to change the application deadline on the term I wanted to get into -______-'

Hello Kelesy, it is nice to have you on here with us. As already mentioned, the test is too broad to know exactly what will be on it but a good book that you can get to help you prepare for the basic biology that will be on there is Cliffs Quick Review Biology. It covers all of the core essential concepts-from cellular functions, genetics, and evolution to anatomy, ecology, and reproduction. It is only $10 a the campus book store and I think it is worth the money.

Sorry you are stressed! I was confused earlier this year about the dates. They handed out packets with the new dates on it but the deadlines where still the old dates and there was lots of confusion. I ended up emailing the nursing dept and found out that basically they didn't get the new dates in the system on time for Fall 2013 so they pushed it back a year. The email says fall 2015-but i think she just mis typed and it was supposed to be fall 2014. The only way to apply is to have all of the prereq's completed (except for Micro, you can currently enrolled).
I know it stinks, and I know the feeling of just wanting get gets started in the program! i wanted to apply earlier too, but because they were not offering night and weekends for fall 2013 and spring 2014 i had to wait. now that you know you have to wait, i would space some of those classes out! Taking Micro and Anatomy at the same time is going to be rough! then add a math its going to be even tougher. At least for me, i couldnt do it. Although i know Nursing school is going to be 100 times worse than that..lol.
@Lori_Roses thank you so much for replying. And I know, it's the worst feeling to have to wait to get into something you REALLY want. Good news though! So I called a nursing advisor at North Campus and the lady told me they didn't change the deadlines!! :-))))) she said the deadline for Fall term 2014 is still June 1st!
And yeah I've been told taking A&P2 and micro at the same time is super hard.....also I definitely wasn't aware that you could take micro while your application is being processed? So that means I can take A&P2, College Algebra this coming spring semester, then apply before the deadline (June 1st) for and then take micro on summer? Is that possible???

welcome anestesia21. I am so glad that you have everything cleared up, so you do not stress as much. I hope everything goes well for you. As you already know, it is best to spread out your classes as much as possible. AP2 and MCB are definitely tough classes, and its best to take them separate from each other. Yes, you can do that: go ahead and take AP2 and algebra for the spring and take micro in the summer. However, your grade in micro will not count towards your admission points, because you have to have already completed the course in order for the points to be calculated in your total admission points. I hope this helps.
@Beatrice....thanks for replying! So that means I won't get possible 12 points towards my total admission points if I take Micro on summer term? See, that worries me..... 12 points is a lot, and I want to submit my application with the most points possible. Has anyone ever taken ap2 and micro at the same time? Is it really that hard?
