Hello, everyone!
Since I have not seen one started on this site, I thought I would go ahead and get the ball rolling. This thread is for anyone hoping to get into FSCJ's Nursing Program for the term starting in the Summer of 2014.
I saw my advisor last week just to see where I stand. I'm taking ap2 now and will finish this month for my last pre req. My advisor did say I'm ok to apply to take the NAT and the nursing program. She did say I just need to take a HUM to complete my AA which i will take obviously in spring. I guess this means that since I don't have my AA yet until spring, I guess I won't be able to apply to UNF, JU, etc? Is it better to apply to those schools when the AA is completed?
I emailed Ms. James about the experience points just to make sure. I went to fscj for EMT school in 2010. After passing the state exam, I got hired at an emergecy room as an ER tech. I told her that and she replied, "your letter from your employer must state that you worked as an EMT to count." That makes no sense because EMT or paramedics don't get called those things in the hospital (ER). We are called ER techs. So I guess that isn't enough for work experience? Even ACPs that work on the floor don't get any work experience points. That is so weird that if I was an EMT on an ambulance, I would get the points, but working directly with nurses as an ER tech or an ACP doesn't count?

I'm not sure about the EMT thing but you could always ask your work what they would consider putting In your letter. Maybe an additional line explaining being an EMT is a requirement or job details.
You can apply for UNF prior to graduating, you just have to provide your transcript showing you are enrolled in the spring semester I believe. I've had a couple of friends apply while they were still at fscj finishing their A.A.

Hi badjam, how did you do on the NAT? I hope you did well.
A friend of mine got into last summer and they sent out letters on February 27th. So I'm going to try and no stalk my mailbox until at least the very end of February..haha
I haven't applied yet. Waiting for my teacher to post my final grade for Stats so I can get my transcript. If I get this A, I should have 205. Just hoping good enough to get nights and weekends!
I've been waiting years to do this, i can't believe its actually time to apply.

thank you for that information. Don't feel bad, I am not so good in math either.
