FSCJ Summer 2014 Hopefuls

Published

Hello, everyone!

Since I have not seen one started on this site, I thought I would go ahead and get the ball rolling. This thread is for anyone hoping to get into FSCJ's Nursing Program for the term starting in the Summer of 2014.

I totally agree with you. As a paramedic and having worked ambulance services, floor tech and ED I know how much CNA's have to deal with also. It sucks that its not recognized.

I signed up to this site cuz I really wanted to comment on this as well lol ummmmm yes I had worked as a CNA since I was in high school...Thinking this will help get me some points when applying....not so. lol it is really disappointing that it is not on the list!

Hello everyone, I am hoping to get into the summer term as well. My total points is 169.96. I have 97 points for my classes and 72.96 points from the NAT. I plan to take statistics and hum2020 during the spring semester in the hope of making an A in both classes, because I made a B in college Algebra and C in my humanities class that i picked to add to my total admission points. If i make a A in those 2 courses, that will bring up my score, and I plan to retake the NAT again sometime in May if I do not get accepted for the summer.

Hello Lori_Roses. Congrats on coming so close to getting your AA. I am almost there too. I have 3 more classes left and I am trying to decide if I should take them all together. Have you taken statistics yet? If so, do you think it is a class that should be taken by itself?

Hi Beatrice- Statistics will not affect your points as they are not included for your points. No other classes besides what is exactly described counts towards your points. (unfortunately!) However, i do think if you take HUM2020 you could use that class instead of your other HUM Class-i would assume. It just said One Humanities class, so if you have 2, maybe you can choose.???

I actually just took Stats and Hum2020. both of my teachers were awesome. HUM2020 online, and Stats at downtown campus. The only classes that count towards points are below. You could try using your new HUM grade and then retaking the NAT to try and boost points.

I took 2 courses last semester, and taking 3 courses in Spring. But i've staggered them so i am only taking 2 at time. Speech, nutrition and a 2nd History. So its def doable to take muliple classes.

Also, if you are going to try and replace your HUM grade with a current one( i would email Cheryl James and make sure) you would not be able to submit for Summer because the deadline is Feb 1st. However, it does not hurt to try! retake the NAT and submit anyways with your current scores.

Statistics can be used in place of college algebra because it's a higher level math than 1105.

Hey Beatrice, for me Statistics was easier than college algebra & much less time consuming. I took it with 2 other classes, Micro & Geography & was not overwhelmed. ratemyprofessor.com is a good source for other student opinions about work load etc

Really?? I have never heard that. there is a great possibility that i am getting an A in Stats..and my College Algebra i got a B-so that would be awesome. Once i get my final grade and if i Keep my A, then i am going to email Cheryl and ask. Thanks for the info!

ahhh hah! it does say -Now to just pass my final well enough to keep my A!

[*]MAC 1105 - College Algebra Credit Hours: 3 (or higher level of mathematics

Good luck!!

Every little bit helps :)

Thank you for the fyi. I already turned in my application for the summer term. I am going to use my new grades if I can for the fall 2014, because I think my chances of getting in is slim to none with my low score of 169.96. How was Hum2020? When I looked at the course description for it, it sound boring. The only reason why I am taking it, is because it is one of the prerequisities for the BSN program. I plan on transitioning to FSCJ BSN program when I finish the ADN. HUm2020 and STA2023 are my last 2 courses left of my BSN prerequisites. What professor did you take for Hum2020 and STA2023?

Good luck!!

Every little bit helps :)

thank you! yes, every little bit does help.

HUM2020 was much more interesting than my other I took. It has a lot to do with personal feelings and reflection. We discussed culture obviously, but it was names, religion, music, art. My other HUM was basically a history class. I would def suggest her, took her online, no book to buy or anything. Everything is given to you in articles and videos to watch. Her name is Margo Martin. I took an 8 week course, and it wasn't too bad as far as the workload. For Stats i took Barbie Dunnan. Its a lot to take in but most is calculator work, which makes it easier than Algebra. I would def suggest her too. Shes down to earth, and allows a formula sheet that you can make up with each test and homework is required, but she doesn't mark off for wrong questions. As long as you attempted all of the questions given out of the book, then you get full credit. On the tests if the answer is wrong, most times she won't completely mark the question wrong if you only messed up in one area. Most times even if the answer is wrong you get some sort of credit for the answer. So i know that was super helpful for me. I am really terrible in math. good luck!
