FSCJ Spring 2012 Hopeful w/???s

U.S.A. Florida

Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here. I am in the middle of tackling the pre-reqs for FSCJ nursing program. I am really hoping to get into the SPring 2012 program (fingers crossed!!) But I'm a little confused about something.

I will be taking my last two classes in the fall, Micro and AP2. My advisor told me that I can apply for the program while I am taking these classes....my question is, if I apply to the program before the Oct. 1 deadline how will they be able to calculate my points for Micro and AP2 if I have not yet fully completed those classes? Will I have to wait until the next fall program? I am really hoping that is not the case, but I'm thinking my advisor may have given me th wrong information.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I thought that now it had to have a lab, and that was the change. I think Chem is required for Micro. Though Chem. is not counted in the possible points.

Last time I met with CJ I was told that they eliminated some of the high school chemistry courses as counting as a pre-requisite but that it was still required (one with a lab). It is correct that it is not counted towards your points though.

I just got an email form her that said there is an information session this thrusday morning. I'm going to try to go if I'm back in town. Hope top see you gals there.

I emailed her last week and she said that there is no chem requirment at all anymore. Yet you do need it for micro.

I guess i'm a spring hopeful, applied for fall but the cut off this year was pretty high. Looking to retake the Nat in September and re-apply for 2nd time . Looking forward to hanging with you guys for the next couple of months. TEACHER2NURSE2012 that is an incredible NAT score. can you tell me how you prepared for the academic portion( math, vocab, and especially the section with comparing like figures) That was the toughest portion of the nat and it looks like you did well in it. Your score is really competitive for nights and weekends congrats.

RN2011,

Did you get your letter yet? I haven't recieved mine yet:uhoh21:...I only had 183.something....so I am pretty sure I didn't get in this time..I am just hoping for that last minute call...if I don't then I will be retaking the NAT too...

The director at north campus told me the letters were all mailed out last thursday and friday. I have not recieved a letter either but I really don't think our letters are being mailed first class, cause I received a letter from JU that was post marked last friday presorted first class. Regular snail mail, it could be by end of this week we get our letters. Good luck

Good luck to everyone applying for the spring 2012. I am retaking english 101 to increase my points and retaking the NAT test . I took a long shot and applied with 185 points for the Fall 2011 but didnt make it. I am also applying to SJRSC for their summer 2012 start program so if I dont get into FSCJ on my second try I have my back up plan.

rn2011a , i really didn't prepare in any certain way. most of it is things that i just picked up from my classes. i wish i had something specific to suggest.
Specializes in Answering phones and studying. ;-).
Is anyone hoping for Spring 2012 Nights and Weekends? I'm hoping and just took the NAT. I have 225.28 points, I wonder if that will be enough or if I should try to retake the NAT.

T2N,

If you have 225 pts you will absolutely get your N/W spot. Don't stress or worry.

A few things to keep your mind off waiting...

*Get Titers for MMR , Varicella, and Hep B. (Northside Medical is most affordable, but your insurance may cover it. Call them now.)

*Get your CPR cert (it must be through AHA and it must be for Health Care Providers. St. Luke's is the most affordable, $20, and their number is 904 278-4274 ext. 227. They wont answer for a long time. Keep calling, leave messages, and it will pay off.)

*Get a passport photo from CVS. Just the photo. They have a $2 off printable coupon online.

*Get a seasonal Flu Shot

*Buy a stethescope

*Buy a BP Cuff

*Buy 2 pair kakhis

*Buy 2 pair of white scrub pants.

I was accepted Fall 2011 with 215 pts.; all of this and more was thrown at us with 18 days to complete it in.

Hey everyone!!!

I am real excited about applying for the nursing program!! I am a 2012 spring hopeful. Right now I have 116 pts from just grades alone but the NAT is really beginning to freak me out, especially since I take it tomorrow!! I will post how everything went but I have heard it has a lot of words that most of us who dont read the dictionary occassionally, lol, would even know. But I think last fall 2011 cut off for points was either in the high 190s or really low 200s, I just cant remember if it was 195 or 201, ive been on this website for a while now reading. Anyway good luck to everyone on the NAT!!!!!!!! trust me, ill share my thoughts tomorrow when i get done taking it. first_aid.png

Can someone help me on the point system? I do not even know how to add up for my grades and the NAT. I just took the NAT and have my results. Can someone help me please? Thank you! I am trying to get into the Spring 2012 also. I have turned in my application already this week.

Thank you!
