Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here. I am in the middle of tackling the pre-reqs for FSCJ nursing program. I am really hoping to get into the SPring 2012 program (fingers crossed!!) But I'm a little confused about something.
I will be taking my last two classes in the fall, Micro and AP2. My advisor told me that I can apply for the program while I am taking these classes....my question is, if I apply to the program before the Oct. 1 deadline how will they be able to calculate my points for Micro and AP2 if I have not yet fully completed those classes? Will I have to wait until the next fall program? I am really hoping that is not the case, but I'm thinking my advisor may have given me th wrong information.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
I already have my CPR card and I renewed it in October. I hope I didn't renew too soon, because I would hate to have to take another course in the middle of clinicals. From my experience, FSCJ will remind you to get a new card but if you started the program with one and it expires, you can put it off until after graduation, I just don't want to take a chance in case they decide to be on top of things. I researched uniform prices this morning. It cost $30 for the zip front jacket with the FSCJ logo and $21 for the draw string pants. Their nurse mates cost $62. Shipping is free if you order $200 worth of stuff. And then you can get the Stethoscope, BP cuff from the book store. A good clip board and charting pen would be helpful as well as a pen light. Bandage scissors you can buy from any anywhere and Kelly forceps are also sold at the local UFO (Uniform Outlet Stores). So if you get an acceptance letter you should be a little more prepared for what you need to come up with. Also I have seen nursing students doing community service and they wear Khaki pants and a polo with a logo which is sold at a separate store in Southpoint area. And also Meridy's also make a name pin with school logo for $7.00.
FSNA sells former students uniform tops for $5. You can wear any white scrub bottoms ($13 at Wallymart)
Do not buy forceps or the lab coat. You will never use either, I promise. You also only need one name badge even though they tell you to buy two. Pen lights come in your skills bag that you have to buy. The clip boards everyone uses are the plastic ones where you can store stuff inside (again about $15 at Wally) but you don't need that until week seven.
Congrats you guys! Welcome to the madness!!

I think you will be fine :) Honestly, I think you are in there with your points. :) Of course, only the letter will tell...but unless the cutoff has jumped dramatically for some reason (in which I would be denied as well), I believe you did well :)
