Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here. I am in the middle of tackling the pre-reqs for FSCJ nursing program. I am really hoping to get into the SPring 2012 program (fingers crossed!!) But I'm a little confused about something.
I will be taking my last two classes in the fall, Micro and AP2. My advisor told me that I can apply for the program while I am taking these classes....my question is, if I apply to the program before the Oct. 1 deadline how will they be able to calculate my points for Micro and AP2 if I have not yet fully completed those classes? Will I have to wait until the next fall program? I am really hoping that is not the case, but I'm thinking my advisor may have given me th wrong information.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Your welcome Navy Glam :)
@Chzwoman - oh you know it darling!! :) My postman thinks I won a sweepstakes or something because when I see his truck I stand there with a stupid grin and he hands me my mail...lol. That's wonderful about UNF! Hey, I know people who got the interview and didn't even get on the waiting list, so that is so great! I didn't get an interview with UNF...I tested, but as I mention in previous posts I am the type that freezes for at least the first section or two on any standardized test. I have 72 credit hours at FSCJ, all A's one B...I didn't do all that great on the PSB-NAT so my total points came to 205. Based on previous semesters I am confident that will be enough; however, nothing is in stone until that letter comes :) I predict at by next Friday many of us should know.
I'm so nervous to hear if I'm in or not... I don't like not knowing what my life will be like in the near future. I should have a 204-ish score. My friend is in the 190's and I'm going to be dissapointed if she doesn't make it in with me... she's worked so hard.I'm trying to set up my CPR course, can anyone tell me if this is the right sort of course to take? It says its for adult, child and AED for Healthcare providers.

Shiver, that is exactly what you need. Basic BLS class but it must be American Heart Association accredited or else fscj will make you take it again. It's good for two years. But you can beat that price. There's a lady that does it in her house for $25. If you check the old threads you should be able to find her contact info.
ANYYYYY day now!!!! I had lots of mail today...nothing from FSCJ
CHZWOMAN-don't give up!!! This is my second time applying....I WILL APPLY AGAIN if I don't get in for Fall!!!
I have retaken the NAT, and am signed up for 2 classes that will replace "bad" grades that are counted towards points..so if not fall term, FOR SURE next fall!!!! I can be patient....

Hi Shiverphone :) To followup with what HF2010 mentioned as well, I plan on taking the BLS course at St. Luke's. They have a course Dec. 6th and Dec. 12th at St. Luke's (Southpoint) from 9am-noon and it is 25.00, and a class at St. Vincent's in Riverside on Dec. 20 and Dec. 21 (although if everything goes our way we might be at orientation then). I plan on taking it on one of those dates or right after Christmas if everything goes as planned. They alternate between St. Luke's and St. Vincents every week. I have the phone number and ext. for them if you need it. It's pretty easy to get in and sign up. :)
I already have my CPR card and I renewed it in October. I hope I didn't renew too soon, because I would hate to have to take another course in the middle of clinicals. From my experience, FSCJ will remind you to get a new card but if you started the program with one and it expires, you can put it off until after graduation, I just don't want to take a chance in case they decide to be on top of things. I researched uniform prices this morning. It cost $30 for the zip front jacket with the FSCJ logo and $21 for the draw string pants. Their nurse mates cost $62. Shipping is free if you order $200 worth of stuff. And then you can get the Stethoscope, BP cuff from the book store. A good clip board and charting pen would be helpful as well as a pen light. Bandage scissors you can buy from any anywhere and Kelly forceps are also sold at the local UFO (Uniform Outlet Stores). So if you get an acceptance letter you should be a little more prepared for what you need to come up with. Also I have seen nursing students doing community service and they wear Khaki pants and a polo with a logo which is sold at a separate store in Southpoint area. And also Meridy's also make a name pin with school logo for $7.00.
I was going through some quotes and I love these:
In the end,
a person is only known
by the impact they have on others.
- Jim Stovall
Continuous effort---not strength or intelligence--is the key to unlocking our potential.
-Winston Churchill
Motivation will almost always beat mere talent.
- Norman R. Augustine
The greatest part of our happiness depends on our dispositions, not our circumstances.

Thanks for the reply. I honestly didn't think that sounded right. It seems like I have more of a better chance guessing what I think the correct answer could be as opposed to just skipping it and leaving it unanswered
