FSCJ Spring 2014 hopeful

Published

I haven't found anything for spring 2014 hopefuls so I wanted to put it out there and meet any other applicants. I am currently taking chem over the summer & I am enrolled in micro for fall. I took my NAT yesterday. I will be applying in Aug for a spring start with 204.32 points. I am hoping to make it in spring rather than having to finish micro and need those points, pushing me back to summer start. Almost 2 years of pre-reqs and sweating it out, it's almost our turn to apply  I am stoked!!!

Hi kjkkm,

I can agree that the pressure is completely off the test now. But, now the pressure has moved on to another area, lol, trying to prepare for my next shot. I am definitely going to try the test again but depending on how much I approve will depend on if I apply. I didn't try process of elimination. I was just so worried about that darn clock that it completely made my nerves bad. Plus, I should have brushed up on my science, which I will do next time around. My sister in law took the Teas test for UNF Nursing and agreed to help me study but being that she took the Teas and I am taking the Nat, it's kind of hard explaining to her what I actually need to prepare for. I can definitely agree with alot of people that the Teas and Arco books are too indepth for the Nat. I need a Science for Dummies or a study guide to tell me exactly what to study. I know alot of people say the science section was easy, but some people struggle with it and lucky me, I was one of them. But I am not giving up!

I was also one of those ones that struggled with the science. However at the time I hadn't taken chemistry or microbiology and I was just finishing up anatomy two. So when I go back to take it I'm hoping I will be better prepared for it now that I am finished with all of those classes. I'm hoping to take it again in August if I feel prepared enough for it, if not I'll push it back into September.

Hi JessicaYoumans

I know you will do alot better next time around. Good luck to you. I am sure you will be fine. I hope to do better my next time around as well. We just have to work a little harder for it in the areas we aren't strong in but like kjkkm says, we are in this together;)

Thanks @Aye_Ne

I'm sure you will do great too(:

I am the worst at taking test and it doesn't help that it's timed /:

But I have gone back into previous blogs from FSCJ and rounded up all of the science info I could get and I have made tons of note cards, so hopefully that will help. I hate that the only thing standing in my way is this test.lol

Hi Everyone,

I scored almost a perfect score (99th percentile) on the science portion of the NAT. I am planning on tutoring a few students who have shown interest in being tutored by me. If anyone else is interested, please let me know and post your email address and I will provide you with details.

I'm glad you are not giving up. Perseverance pays off! I had to laugh at your science for dummies comment because right now i have Chem for dummies & the complete idiots guide to chemistry on my table lol

gperez1224 i sent you an email :)

aye_ne: Thanks for your response, I'll have to check out Bailey's, I heard they're pretty nice. I can't wait to see what clinicals has in store for us. Thats awesome your husband is so supportive! I will also be relying on my boyfriend for basically everything. As far as the NAT, I really didn't prepare for it at all, I just took it to see how I would do and did really well. I also took it about a year ago, so I don't really remember. I wish I could be of more help on that subject! Good luck to you as well dear! I know you'll do great.

Hi mabamj1,

I heard they are at different hospitals and it really depends on what your class picks and what clinical you need to do that particular semester. The only gym I know of on Dunn Ave is Bailey's which is on the side by 95.

Also, I'm a mommy. I have two kids, a boy and a girl ages 3 and 6. I have a very supportive husband so I will mainly rely on him to help with everything if I get in the program. I think when you have the mindset that you have to get "it" done, whatever it may be, you make sure you find a plan to make it happen and I think that is why alot of people are successful.

I noticed how well you did on your Nat. Do you have any tips on the NS section? I am hoping I can get some good feedback since I did so bad on that section but my main goal now is to study that section as much as I can and get ready to apply by October first. Best of luck to you and your family!

Mabamj1,

I think the clinicals are based on like a lottery type picking. So you wont know until it's time to pick.

Also, I do believe North campus has a gym on campus. I know they have a track and a pool but I'm pretty sure there is a gym back by those too.

That is so cool, I can't wait to see what the options are. I'll definitely have to take some time to do some exploring on North campus. I saw on their campus map that they had the pool but it said criminal justice training pool? I'm wondering if it is open to all students or if it is limited to the criminal justice students. I also wonder if the track is open to all students or to just those in Track. It would be so awesome if they were open to all students!!

Welcome mabamj1,

Congratulations on your baby girl :)

And your score. That is awesome  you are in! I am def interested in a study group. Like everyone else, i run short on time having 3 girls but its important we make time to do well. I have not done my CPR certification, i am planning on getting that done in July. I have heard St Vincent's is the best and/or cheapest. Where did you do yours?

Thank you! (: For my CPR cert, I just went through the AHA website and picked a class off a schedule, it was held out in Regency. I can't remember exactly how much I paid, maybe around $40?

Also, I tried to reply to your message but the site told me I couldn't.... /:

I know for a fact the track is open for all students because I run on it all the time after class, But as far as the pool goes I'm not sure but I'm sure it is and the same for the gym as long as your are a FSCJ student I don't see why they would stop you. I think that they just list it as "criminal justice" because it is way back there right by the criminal justice building. But I'll keep an ear out on info about them, and let you know if I hear anything(:

Me too, I'm actually getting ready for a half marathon. And no problem, I work at the bookstore on campus during rush so I am sure someone knows something about them.(:
