FSCJ Nursing-Summer 2015

U.S.A. Florida

I haven't seen any thread for Summer 2015 Nursing Program for FSCJ, so I decided to create this one. There has been slight changes made to the program and to the prerequisite requirements.

Is anyone else planning to apply for the program? Any tips?

Words of encouragement?

Have you taken the HESI?

Is this your first time shooting to the program?

Be Positive Future Nurses!!

Good luck to all those that applied! Is anyone applying for the LPN to RN bridge program? Trying to determine if people have insight to previous years point cut off.

I was reading the previous Summer 14 forum, they got their letters in early March! I hope that's the same with this semester!

March would be great! When I turned in my packet on Friday the receptionist said letters will go out 8 weeks from Feb 1. I like March better than April!

Sent you the packet :)

Sent packet to you :)

I may be getting ahead of myself, but I am a HUGE planner, lol. I see the Summer 2015 term dates are posted as May 6 - Aug 21. Does anyone have any idea what our potential schedule may be like? I know we would be in Days, but is that M-F, 8-5 kind of deal?

Can you please email the packet also. [email protected]

Thank you so much!

Sent you the packet :)

Honestly... Day classes can be anywhere from 6:00am-5:00pm M-F. Just make sure you keep your schedule open and be willing to be very flexible. You probably won't see the 6:00am start time until you start going to doing your hospital rounds which is normally the 8th week in 1st term. So with out clinicals classes are anywhere from 8am-5pm. They won't hand you your official schedule until orientation after you been accepted.

I just started the program so let me know if you have any other questions. I wish you all the best :).

Thanks for the info sunflower07!!

How is the "math test" (dosage/IV calc) test?! I heard if you bomb it they'll give you another try and if you cant pass with 80% you're kicked out. Do the instructors review the calculations with you, or are you out on you're own trying to learn?!

@daniellejax,

We actually have three dosage calculation test this term that we have to pass with an 80% or better. But you are correct you only get two attempts for each test. If you do not pass it , you will fail the actual course which means you would need to be reinstated to the program.

We were mostly provided with multiple resources to help us. There are some instructors and a tutor that can help you. But it is an independent study, so they will not teach you during lecture time. You are responsible with learning it on your own time. Once you get accepted you will get a packet with what will be on some of the dosage calculation test . Once you register for classes, you can log on to blackboard and they have plenty of resources for all the dosage calculation.
