FSCJ Nursing-Summer 2015

U.S.A. Florida

Published

I haven't seen any thread for Summer 2015 Nursing Program for FSCJ, so I decided to create this one. There has been slight changes made to the program and to the prerequisite requirements.

Is anyone else planning to apply for the program? Any tips?

Words of encouragement?

Have you taken the HESI?

Is this your first time shooting to the program?

Be Positive Future Nurses!!

Thanks for the info, sunflower07. Much appreciated!

daniellejax, I've already started watching videos on Youtube about dosing and calculations. LOL I'm anxious about that part, as well.

OH! I do have another question, @sunflower07. Do you know anything about the Work Source grant? I plan on visiting the office, but was wondering if you knew of anything I could do ahead of time to make the process easier. Thanks again! :-)

I would just start gathering paperwork like proof of income, w2, ssn card, driver license etc. You can only apply at a certain time. I believe for you guys it will be from March 2, 2015 – April 17, 2015. But If I were you I would apply on March 2. It is great because they will pay for your tuition, books and NCLEX test. They will look at your degree audit for nursing and you will need an overall 3.0 gpa to qualify. You will also have to make less than $25 an hour. I believe if you are under the age 24 or 25 they will look at your parents' income. Once you apply you will be assigned to an intake counselor close to your home location. They will schedule the appointment for test and paperwork. As far as test taking and paper work I hear some intake counselors are more lenient than others.

Also you are going be required to have a physical, immunization shots, drug and background test done within 3-4 weeks of getting accepted. Get mentally and physical, and FINANCIALLY prepared for this program. WIA or financial aid will not cover the above expenses or uniforms. You are responsible. I spent $670 and I am not including any books. Some nursing students spent a whole lot more than me. Having health insurance helps but a lot of health insurance plans do not cover the immunization shots.

Your info is so helpful and informative!!

@sunflower07 - you ROCK. Thanks so much.

@HokieJen - I've been YouTubing dosage calculations too!!! :whistling: I've also watched vids on Foley Catheter insertion, how to ausculate the heart, etc. Its very interesting to me to learn about these types of things and to give me an insight on how they're performed!

Awwe thanks daniellejax and HokieJen .

Can't wait for you guys to get that big white envelope in the mail. :).

I must say there are a lot of nursing students in this program that are very helpful and nurturing. You will have a great support system. You'll see.

@daniellejax, YAAASSS!! I've learned so much from Youtube!

Did we just become nursing school best friends?! Hahahahaha!

Hi everyone! Can someone please email me the updated packet? [email protected] Thank you in advance

Hi could you send the packet to me too pretty please?? [email protected]

Hello everyone. I am a little more confident this semester. I thought I would get in during Spring but I missed it by POINT ONE points, litrerally one tenth of a point (0.1). I took my HESI again and added more work experience. Hopefully I will get in this time. I am in the low 190's if I calculated correctly. So hopefully I will be in this time and not disappointed like last semester.

Hello fellow nurses!!!

I don't know about any of you, but the suspense of waiting on this envelope is killing me. :nailbiting:

I know they say the end date is December 1- Feb 1.. so does this mean that next week we should be checking our mail boxes..? Not going to lie, I've already been freaking out the mail man...
