FSCJ Nursing-Summer 2015

I haven't seen any thread for Summer 2015 Nursing Program for FSCJ, so I decided to create this one. There has been slight changes made to the program and to the prerequisite requirements.

Is anyone else planning to apply for the program? Any tips?

Words of encouragement?

Have you taken the HESI?

Hi Danielle....There is an updated packet I just received today from Angie Shrowder in the nursing dept. with the new calculation I can email to you if you like. Have you taken the HESI yet? I'm planning to take it Sept. or Oct. but I'm applying for Fall 2015 program.

Hey Jaturner1994 - since you applied last semester and missed by a couple points, i figured you would know - so I have a question for you:

Do you know if the points for nursing school entrance are calculated based off of your HESI score cummlative percentage points + your grades from your prereqs....or, if your points are calculated from the 4 HESI subject scores (math, reading, bio and a&p) + your grades from your prereqs??

Cheryl James said they calculate points from individual sections by using the formulae they provided instead of cumulative HESI score. Also, if you take HESI twice, as you know, they will use the best score out of two attempts.

Hey all! Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I'm walking my application in next week and am super anxious. I'm applying with 214.5 points and an overall HESI score of 87.5. I'm fairly confident, but is hard to gauge my chances since they have changed everything. This 6-8 week wait after Feb 1 is going to be killer!!

Also, does anyone have any information on Work Source grants? Thanks!

Thanks! I used this book: Admission Assessment Exam Review, 3e: 9781455703333: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com

Definitely study up on your conversions, proportions and ratios for the math section. Review your A&P notes as best as you can. For the biology section, I watched lots of videos on Youtube on topics like mitosis and meiosis.
