FSCJ/FCCJ Fall 2011 Hopefuls

Published

I know this is early, but I am sure there are Fall hopefuls out there for 2011.

Anyone out there yet, or am I just overly eager?

:lol2:

does anyone know how many people applied?

I applied on 20th of May and I was #166...

I never thought to ask what number I was ... I wonder how many people applied as well

Gee, I have no idea how many people applied. When I dropped off my app there were 4 other people in line! It's strange how few people are on this forum for Fall 2011, though.

I'm getting really nervous. I feel confident with my score, but what if I made a mistake while applying or they make a mistake or if the average is outrageously high. 6-8 weeks of 'what ifs' is going to take a toll on me.

Girl, you have 212 points! The wait shouldn't matter, it's just a formality with that many points! WTG!

I told one of my friends recently that 4 months (one more semester) in light of your whole career is NOTHING. Retake the NAT or whatever class you can, to raise your score, and reapply for the next term. You can still get it all done inside that 2 year window you are looking at. As someone who IS going back to school all these years later, I am a strong proponent of "do whatever it takes to get it done now, versus later."

It is just my opinion, and PP suggestions are also valid options, but I feel that life can get in the way if you say you're gonna do something else in the meantime and come back later. And then you may never come back to it and always regret it. If you can't do anything to improve your scores within the next few months, then I guess this option wouldn't work for you. But just don't give up, whatever you do!

I agree. I have been asking myself, "Was my application complete? Will they let me know if it wasn't?" but that is less st

I am overwhelmed with the thought of working a FT job while attending school AND raising two boys! Everything is up in the air until I know if I am accepted and what my schedule will be. I thought of having them go live with their father or my mother but I just couldn't live with myself if I made the wrong decision. I would much rather have them live with me. Then again, I don't want them to be home alone until 10p every night! (fyi: my boys are 10 & 15, they are good kids, no troubles in school, don't hang out in the streets, they just want to play video games lol) I tried to have a younger cousin come live with me but that fell through.

How can I do this??? Any advice?

What about a fellow nursing student as a roommate? If they were on days, they could be home in the evening providing light supervision for your kids.

I have a friend who would fit that scenario perfectly! She is young, wants to move out of her parents, but can't afford it on her PT retail wage. She will be starting at either FSCJ or JU in Fall, and she likes kids. Hey, I should hook ya'll up!

Thanks 77 for the kind thoughts! :) Sorry if I lead this thread into the dark side of waiting on acceptance. ;)

The hardest thing right now is the uncertainty, application time is so hectic. Yes, I have 115 points so I should land a spot, but... hmph. Time to get over it and wait, I guess. :)

NJ, I'm in a similar position. I have a 7 year old boy. Luckily my husband will be my rock, financially and emotionally. Maybe we can work out a support system within the nursing class. I know it isn't much, but if we make a point to be supportive for each other, then we are all better off. :heartbeat

thanks 77for2011. I will think about that option. I don't know that I could ever have a roommate again though. It was hard dealing w/roommates when I was single; I can't imagine how stressful it might be now, especially with children involved.

sugarbee, did you mean you have 215 pts?

I know what you mean, NJ. It is hard living with someone else. :)

Well, 214.56, I don't know if that rounds up.

Yeah, that's true. Roommates aren't for everyone!

I am going to use my waiting time to have fun and enjoy my kids (presuming they don't drive me CRAZY!) b4 school starts, b/c they probably won't even know me anymore once we get started, LOL. Well, I've heard people say you have to schedule the time you're gonna have family time, and stay consistent. I hope I will remember to do that, b/c I am obsessive about studying!

Sugarbee, you're fine, sharing your thoughts. I've noticed about this board that is diff from others, that everyone seems open to everyone else's posts. In other words, you don't get jumped on as soon as you say something that one person doesn't like or agree with! Yay for us! I'm just a person that has an opinion about everything, and feels entitled to share it, LOL. I don't have to be always right, though :D

Can everyone share what their points are please? Im at 201.80 and worried it might not be enough. However I want days so hopefully I will be fine. It wld be horrible to come this far and not make it with points over 201.
