FSCJ Fall 2014 hopefuls

Published

Hello everyone, I did not see a post for the fall 2014 semester, so I wanted to get it started. I applied to the 2014 summer semester and now I am waiting on my acceptance or denial letter. I am starting this forum just in case i do not get in for the summer. My total score right now is 169.96. I have 97 points for my classes and 72.96 points from the NAT. I am currently taking statistics and humanities, in hope of getting an A in both of them to boost my score up to 178.96. I made a C in A&P 1, my first humanities class and PSY1012. I also made a B in college algebra and that is what got my score down so low. I hope that the low cut off score trend continues to give me a good chance of getting in. The last 3 semesters were 175.96, 187 and 187. I am preparing to retake the NAT in late May to be in time for the June 1st deadline with plenty of time to study for the NAT. I look forward to meeting you all, and hear how things are going for you, so we can encourage and support one another.

Can we go ahead and get our physical s or do we need to wait for our . Im so irritated if I took general psychology last spring it would brought my points up to 202 but insbutd I applied with 196 using my ap score which counts as a c

If they are making chemistry with a lab a requirement I bet there will ne a lot less people applying for spring 2015 bc I know a lot of people didn't take the lab portion and they haven't updated their website

Hold off on getting anything done before your acceptance is received. As you may have gathered by now, the nursing office is VERY particular about what you submit and when it was done - there's a strong chance they won't accept anything dated prior to the receipt of the acceptance packet. I know it's tempting to get a jump on it but if you do be warned you might have to re-do it. Also, there is a physical form included in your acceptance packet which has to be filled in so you wouldn't be able to so that beforehand anyway. Best of luck! I know the wait is excruciating but enjoy this time with your family...once that big white envelope comes your life will be a whirlwind for a while!!

What all is necessary for the skills kit?

They will provide information about where and how to purchase the skills kit - it has to come from where the school has arranged. Aside from what comes in the skills kit, you will likely need a pair of medical scissors, although I would hold on purchasing anything until you see what comes in your skills kit as they are constantly changing and adding things and I would hate for you to buy something twice. Info will be in your acceptance packet.

Bah. This is not fun guys. One of the RN's I work with just graduated from FSCJ and was hired here right after. She told me she got hers on July 3rd when she was accepted for Fall. Even though we all already knew that. I'm so nervous. I just pray they come on Monday. I know I have a 209-215 or whatever but I seriously have trust issues. We can do everything on our end to try and ensure our acceptance but you never know what falls through the cracks. :/ So anyways, enduring the pain with you guys.

I'm working 12 hour shifts this weekend and I picked up extra hours next Tues,Wed, Thurs. haha. So hopefully the letters do come on Monday. Otherwise, I will be calling my family everyday at 1pm while at work and asking if a package came for me or a letter. hahaha.

I work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of next week so I will be calling my father around 3 (when my mail usually comes) to go out and check it.

Do we have to take a semester off between AS and the BSN program? I was just looking at the catalog and for admission you must already be licensed. How would that be possible if you don't take the NCLEX until after you get your AS in lets say December and the application deadline is October 1.

I was wondering the same thing. Although I still need a nutrition class. Now I wish I took it this summer but I really wanted a break from school.

I took that as an 8 week course online Spring and it was pretty easy. I spent 2-3 hours a week at the most working on it and made an A.

Yes we do have to take a semester off. All AS-BSN bridges require that you are licensed already even at UNF. So we will have to take a semester off. Even after you graduate with the AS you have to wait a few weeks to take the NCLEX. After we graduate, FSCJ sends a roster of those who are eligible to take the NCLEX. Something like that. I have coworkers who are ACP's that just graduated from FSCJ and recently took the NCLEX. This is just what they told me. It does suck though. I wanted to bridge at UNF... and they only start Fall and Spring. So I'll have to wait until the Fall after we graduate to bridge. Well if I'm accepted.

i feel eel like everything is still up in the air but hopefully they do let you use the one you already have!

I took CHM1020 and CHM1020L at St. John's River State College. It was Intro Chem with Lab. Will this be okay?

hopefully because there is a lab attached. I was curious to see if i could just take the lab portion at sjrcc so i didnt have to take another intro to chem course

now I am wishing i took it this summer..2-3 hours a week for an 8 hour class isnt bad at all. I just heard the class had a lot of work.
