Okay here we are!!!!!!
My thing is that I applied for financial aid and got denied. So I talked about worksource, but our household income exceeds what qualifies for worksource. So, I have no financial aid set up but apparently I'm still getting a card? I guess they're just sending them to everyone, because I don't think I should be getting one.
BigTuna: Did anyone else get an email offer from "FSCJ Refund Card"? It came to my FSCJ email address. It arrived shortly after I signed up for Amazon Student.![]()
It is never a good thing when your school gives your personal information to a commercial third party - especially a school that pays so much lip service to confidentiality.
It has nothing to do with Amazon. Its the new way FSCJ will be dispersing financial aid. :) Every student at the college, financial aid applicants or not, should be getting one.
The card is an absolute GOD send. It is actually a debit card that your financial aid can be dispersed to if you sign up for it. It comes with free checks, a free checking account, no overdraft or banking fees. It can be used in the vending machines at school, paying bills, the book store, and anywhere mastercard is accepted. Money can be deposited and transferred to the card. Even if you are not getting a dispersement, you can use it as an actual bank account with your own money and direct deposit from your source of income. I actually plan to use it separate from my bank account. The only thing I don't like about it is if there is no bank to go to if you have an issue then what do you do? Im not one for phone conversations about my money. I need to see someone in person.
hey everyone! i found this info on fscj's site about the refund card. just an fyi - theres some interesting info in the faq sections.
can i select a paper check instead?
florida state college at jacksonville has elected to disburse payments to students electronically. paper checks will no longer be an option for receiving a refund, financial aid disbursement or other student payment from the college.
what exactly is the oneaccount?
the oneaccount is a fully functioning fdic insured checking account with no minimum balance, no monthly fees and free internet banking. selecting the oneaccount allows you to access your refunds and financial aid disbursements quicker and easier than ever before. you can use your fscj refund card to make purchases anywhere debit mastercard is accepted! the fscj refund card is a debit card, not a credit card.
where can i find a oneaccount atm?
there are six oneaccount atms on florida state college at jacksonville campuses and centers. for more information about the fscj refund card and for the location of the closest oneaccount atm, visit atm locations.
i don't think i will ever get an fscj refund. why is it important to select a refund preference?
all florida state college at jacksonville students must select a refund preference to receive payments from the college. this includes refunds, reimbursements, financial aid disbursements, or any other type of student payment. student workers must also complete a payroll direct deposit form. even if you do not expect to receive money from the college, keep your fscj refund card and make a refund selection. after all, it may be necessary to drop a class, a class may be cancelled or you may simply receive a scholarship you were not anticipating.
what if i've already provided the college my direct deposit information?
you must activate your refund preference when you receive your card even if you are already setup for direct deposit. it only takes a minute to activate. avoid delays in getting your refund or financial aid disbursement.
how will i know when my refund or financial aid has been deposited to my florida state college at jacksonville oneaccount?
there are multiple ways to know when your funds have been deposited to your oneaccount. you will receive an e-mail when your refund has been deposited to your oneaccount. you can choose to receive a text message to your cell phone, or you can access the details of your oneaccount by viewing your statement online.

I made an early guess that the Refund card might be related to signing up for Amazon Student, but I think that was incorrect. be724's post says that FSCJ's Financial Aid office is the culprit:
