FSCJ Fall 2010 ACCEPTED

Okay here we are!!!!!!

Two miles west on 215 from blanding, and then it's two more miles back into my neighborhood. I thought about going that way just because of the speed limit on most of 301 and the lack of traffic. But I have to take 215 to 16 to 301, which is going more south before I can even start going north, and my husband and I had the longest debate about which one is quicker. I told him it might be slightly quicker, but 301 is probably less stressful of a drive.

Natalie, I can come get you, it's not a problem at all. It will be a nice drive for me. I would hate for you to miss the meeting, especially since you were instrumental in getting people from the previous term to come. Just send me an email with your address and I'll be happy to pick you up on Sunday

Omg, Marina, you are so cute. But seriously, I don't know if you realize what you're getting yourself into. Where do you live?

My Itenerary said we will start at 8:30 and will begin registration lottery at 3:00 so I am thinking we will be there till 4 or 5.

Hi everyone - I'm a newly accepted Nights and Weekends student. I've got a few pre-orientation jitters...does anyone know what the registration lottery is? Will it effect the N&W crew, or just daytime students? I'm hoping to meet up with everyone at Panera at 1PM this Sunday. It's really exciting to be starting the nursing program, but I have so many questions that I don't know where to begin. Visiting with other newbies will be a treat!

Good Question Beachmom, If im not mistaken, we have to choose our professors, and/or clinical sites. You will choose more than one like first choice, second choice. Then we will be assigned one choice or the other. Anyone please correct me if I am wrong.

Congratulations!! I hope you can make it Sunday. There's going to be some really good information being discussed, I'm sure.

The lottery is how we pick our schedules. Each section has a different schedule, teachers, and clinical hospital location. So we draw numbers out of a hat, and the lowest numbers get to bid first on which section they want. If I remember correctly, there are 12 students per section. N/W had 24 seats, but I don't know if it's more now since there are 168 total. So (I think) you will just have to pick between two schedules.

Just read through this thread and the FCCJ/FSCJ Fall 2010 Hopefuls. There's tons of information. Reading the Summer accepted thread was very helpful also.

I think you're right. We bid on first, second, so on choices. The people with the lowest numbers get first pick. As they go up in numbers, if the section you picked for 1st choice is already full, then they go to your 2nd choice, etc.

I live close enough ;)

I live close enough ;)

I really, really would like you to tell me at least what side of town you live on before I say okay. If you live at the beach or on the southside or something crazy like that, there's no way I'm going to let you drive an hour out of your way, an hour back to Panera, an hour to take me home, and an hour to go back home yourself. That's just crazy talk, I don't care how bad I want to be there.

It would make more sense for somebody with free n/w minutes to call me and put their phone on speaker or something.

You're soooo sweet, and I am so touched in general by the way everybody is banding together and trying to help each other out and support and encourage each other.

Please, please, please, just tell me what side of town you live on.

OK - that makes sense. I'm glad I will only have to choose from the two sections. Thanks for the info - I look forward to meeting you all on Sunday!

I live on CR210 in St. Augustine, so it wouldn't be too out of my way. Plus, it will give me a good excuse to leave the house early and get a break from the kids (LOL, just kidding....or am I???) :D

Haha :lol2: Oh, that's right. You're St. Johns county. Now I remember you saying that before.

Okay, but I'm giving you gas money, a hug, and I'm buying your Panera. :redpinkhe

I'll send you a PM.

At our orientation, the day students each drew a number from a hat and based on that number were called up in order to choose their section. So you have the list of sections/schedules and decide what you want, then hope your number is low enough and you get the section you want. For nights/weekends, you draw from a separate hat of 24 and get in a line to choose your section. The nights program is together for all four lecture classes, the only choice you have is clinical site/instructor. For us it was Baptist Nassau or Baptist Downtown. We've all had great experiences so far! :)
