FSCJ Fall 2010 ACCEPTED

Okay here we are!!!!!!

Financial aid!!

Okay so I thought the hard part was getting accepted to nursing school...turns out just getting a loan (not a grant) is turning out to be extremely difficult. In fact I was told by a FA counselor today 'not to get my hopes up'. What?!@ Yes, this is my 2nd degree but come on...no help for those of us who pay it back? (I have the 150% rule). I have two weeks to give my two weeks notice to my employer and right now without minimal loans I can't afford to go to school. :( Help...someone???

I'll be honest. Don't expect to get FA prior to having to pay for classes. I am in the same situation. I am graduating from UNF on Friday and was told to be prepared to pay for the 1st semester and then "if" the financial aid is approved it will pay me back.

In regards to scrub bottoms, I got mine at the evil empire that is Wal-Mart. I think they were like $13 for a pair with a drawstring.

Ok questions about uniforms....since that is def the most important part(j/k). Can we get sneakers? Like Nikes, New Balance? And if so can I see a link to what is acceptable(forgive me if that is misspelled)? Have no clue about scrubs, wanted to go the cheap route by far. I am about a size 10/12 and have a big bootie, so just don't want to look like a cow!

I am finally getting excited after the shock of how much I will have to spend has set in. My cousin who graduated from Nursing school at FCCJ about 10 years ago has given me some great hints and is giving me my stethoscope...which saved me a huge chunk of cash(whew!). Not sure about seeing everyone on Sunday.....may be in Maryland, if not I will def be there!

I had an appeal for the 150% and after turning in my appeal paperwork, they called me back to go in and see an adviser. When I saw the adviser, all she asked for was my acceptance letter and approved the appeal right there on the spot. Just get the paperwork in and get the ball rolling...:)

Who did you talk to? I've had the worst luck with FA and advisors. No one says the same thing. I usually go to Deerwood.

Thanks!

Get this...in the other thread, someone just got a denial letter. The cutoff was 201.24 points!!! THAT'S HUGE!!!

Holy cow, I only had 202 also!! Wow, we dodged that bullet. I can't believe it went up like that, especially with them taking more students for fall.

I go to north campus, that is where the nursing school is located so the advisors seem to be more knowledgeable. I had already turned in my appeal before I got my acceptance so I had to turn that in after the fact, and they were reviewing the appeals when I went in.

Like I said in an earlier post, I have talked to advisors on other campuses, but get the most consistent answers and best help at north campus. I drive right past kent campus to go to north campus.

WOW! That is really high. I had 223.56 and I was worried. Everyone told me not to b/c the cut off was usually way lower. It just goes to show you that you never know. It all depends on who you are up against. Kudos to everyone for such high points!!!!! :yeah::yeah::yeah:

It's getting more and more competitive each term. Not positive of the exact number, but I want to say the points have gone up by about 20 over the last two years. It is making it harder to make grades less than an "A" and still make it in.
