frustrated lvn trying to get in to a rn program

I don't live in CA, but I do attend a private college in my hometown (advancing my degree). You may be surprised that even though the tuition is higher at private schools, with financial aid, it can still be affordable. Good luck to you.

Hi,

I also found it very frustrating to get into a bridge program and I have beautiful grades. I would suggest making an appointment at a couple of different schools to find out why you didn't get in and what the chances of ever getting in might be for you. Without knowing for sure why or if maybe you could take a couple of gen-ed classes to bump up your average etc. its hard to guess. If you find that there really isn't a chance of getting in I would explore a private or online option. Normally I'm not in favor of doing that because I think the high prices are ridiculous but if you have no other options I would do whatever necessary to get your RN, you've come this far! Im a lvn trying to get in an Rn nursing program, I applied everywhere, still getting denied maybe due to high volume of applicants and also my GPA. All schools want at least a GPA of 3.0, is that all schools here in california. Should I consider a private school instead such as western career college or unitek college. I live california and its very competitive here. Pls help me:o

your grades in your prereqs? or your whole overall GPA?

Honestly that scares me. I've got A's in my prereqs and am just starting an LVN program. my GPA overall isn't a 3.0 (misspent youth, friggin hard major) Am I shooting myself in the foot doint LVN first?- not that I really have much choice right now due to family reasons... That would suck.

well i hear ya!!! i have a 3.4 all my bsn classes done and been a lvn for 8 years... i can't get in anywhere... it is a sad sad thing cause ive been trying many years ...ive been trying so long my sciences are about to expire and when they do..i'm hangin up my hat, i wont take them over.

well i hear ya!!! i have a 3.4 all my bsn classes done and been a lvn for 8 years... i can't get in anywhere... it is a sad sad thing cause ive been trying many years ...ive been trying so long my sciences are about to expire and when they do..i'm hangin up my hat, i wont take them over.

have you thought of just doing the bsn program? around here they are easier to get in than the cc programs. i was going to go that route if i didn't get in to a bridge program. it was annoying because you won't get credit for lpn nursing classes but with all your pre-reqs done you should be able to finish in 2 years which would be the same as doing the lpn bridge to adn and then bsn.

There are actually bridge programs that are on-line and approved if you have your LVN license already. ....and for CA.

The only one avalible to California's online I could find is ISU. What other is out there for CA?

It seems that ISU has a lot of clinicals that would be hard to try to find the preceptors to "do" them??

I would like to know realistically how long it would take to earn a BSN using the ISU?

I did write them for the basic info, but I suppose it depends how quickly you progress through the classes at your own speed? I also want to know more about the clinicals. The hours seem VERY LOOONNNGG!!

Anyway, the more info on here, the better!

i actually got accepted to a bsn program in 2005 under the condition that i would pass college algebra. i failed by one point and got a d so they would not let me in. i tried to clep algebra and in the middle of my test the lady running the test accidentally shut off my computer and i had to retake the darn thing. i was so mad by then and my scores was due by a certain time ..i freaked out and failed. however, as of yesterday i have officially passed college algebra ...
