I don't know about in CA, but in NC you would be given a stiff warning. I would immediately email or call your coordinator at the BON and let them know what happened and what you have done to ensure that it will not happen again. I set my alarm on my cell phone for M-F mornings at 0800 to make sure I remember to call Firstlab. Don't wait for the BON to call you about the missed test/call in, be proactive and call them.

Goodness.....I would be very worried if I were you. But, I am in Ohio, and I am scared, scared, scared of the BON. I would just think they wouldn't think you were taking the program very seriously if you didn't check in twice in your first month. Then again, I am a freak about checking in because I am afraid I will forget. I do have a reminder set on my phone that shows up as a little icon every morning. I don't remove the icon until I check in that day. Good luck to you and let us know what happens

I agree, be proactive. Let the BON know what happened about the missed call-in. It may not change what they may do to you, but at least they will know you are taking this very seriously.
The best way to win the BON over is to not let a third miss happen. I like the idea of setting a reminder on your cell phone.
Since you check in on your computer, you could add a reminder to your computer's calendar (such as Outlook, iCal). You can also have your calendar e-mail you another reminder each day you need to call in. The best way to ensure that you pay attention to your computer's calendar is to have it start up when your computer starts up. I have iCal open up every time i start my computer, so my calendar and task list is presented to me immediately.
Best of luck in getting this sorted out!

Yes get in to a routine of when to call in. I do it before I get out of bed in the morning. It will probably be a warning this time but you reall need to be vigulant now. I was placed on probation for a first time DUI in 2008. Probation is a difficult thing.

I keep a calander next to my computer, every morning I wake up and write in the log in number from my checkin. I've been called twice asking for this number, just make a habit of doing it first thing. A plus if I'm selected for a UA I have all day to plan for it.

I have multiple alarms set for 0500. That way I check in first thing and have the entire day to plan around it as well. I also capture screen shots of the check in page so I can have proof and look back incase i question it. Twice in a month isn't a very good start IMO...

I just realized this week that I missed checking in on Labor Day, my first miss in 2 1/2 years. I am terrified. But, I keep telling myself that it is my very first miss and it was a holiday and I was not selected to test. I also keep asking how I forgot because I never do... Then I realized that I check on my phone 99% of the time and have been told to actually not use your phone to check in.. So, maybe I actually did, but the phone didn't register the check in? Wishful thinking... Good luck, and you will eventually get into a routine. I have an alert on my phone as well as a daily email.

It's habit now. 5 am, wether I'm at work or home, I log on and check in. Then I have an alarm at 0830, then another at 1430. We have to check in before 1500. And I always text hubby with a test or no test. I ABSOLUTLY do not text him until I have actually DONE IT. Not on my way to the computer... If I have not texted him by 0830 HIS alarm goes off and he texts me... I've only missed twice in 2 years. The last time was well over a year ago.

Does anyone here know what happens when you do forget to check-in? I forgot to today, and its the weekend so I probably was not selected to test on Saturday. This is the first one I missed and have been in the program for about 6 months. Do they give you a warning? Do they make you test the next available day? I was just tested on Thursday, and the tests are $95! I absolutely cannot afford to test again on Monday, this god-awful program has taken everything away from me for a ridiculous false-positive test and while I am trying to follow the outrageous rules, I can barely afford it. Anyway (sorry about the vent) does anyone know if they make a person test again if they miss a check-in? I live in South Dakota...HPAP is the substance abuse program for nurses here.
