DEAR SUZANNE4,

I AM FROM THE PHILS. AND I TOOK UP PRACTAL NURSING HERE. I HAVE READ FROM A MAJOR NEWSPAER HERE THAT NCLEX WILL BE AVAILABLE EARLY NEXT IN KOREA, HONGKONG AND OTHER PLACES IN ASIA, AND THAT MEANS I CAN SIT IN FOR AN NCLEX-PN IN H.K. NEXT YEAR WHICH IS CLOSER THAN SAIPAN. I AM PLANNING TO TAKE IELTS EXAM IN THE NEXT 2 MONTHS.

MY QUESTIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1. IS IT REALLY TRUE THAT NCLEX EXAMS WILL SOON BE AVAILABLE IN THOSE PLACES THAT I HAVE MENTIONED.

2. IF I PASSED THE NCLEX-PN AND IELTS, AS AN LPN. CAN I APPLY FOR THE IMMIGRANT VISA TO WORK IN THE U.S. CAN YOU HELP ME FIND SOME EMPLOYERS IN THE U.S. WHO ARE WILLING TO SPONSOR AN LPN FROM THE PHILS.

I AM VERY MUCH DETERMINED TO BECOME AND LPN AND WORK IN THE U.S.

I HOPE YOU CAN SHED LIGHT INTO MY QUESTIONS.

THANK YOU AND YOU ARE A REALLY SUCH A BIG HELP FOR THE NURSES.

REGARDS,

lyn_pn03

huh? that is far too long!!! where are you? in the PI or here in the states. if it is a consular petition (meaning you have to be petitioned from there) it takes anywhere from 8 mos-1 year more or less. if your here (assuming you have a tourist visa), an employer can petion you as an immigrant and that usually takes a year. i have an agency and if you want to know just give me a message ok? just check out this website to check out the california processing dates ok?

here is the page: https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/Processtimes.jsp?SeviceCenter=California

Yes,it is true that NCLEX will be offered in London, Hong Kong, and Seoul beginning in January. No other cities have been listed.

However, with just an LPN, you will not be granted a visa based on that. It must be as a professional nurse to meet the requirements of obtaining a green card on your own. The laws require that you be at least an RN.

Sorry that I can't be of more help to you. You need to complete additional schooling if your goal is a green card.

Thank you very much for your immediate reply. I am quite disappointed upon knowing that an LPN can not be granted an immigrant visa. I am still hoping that there are still possible options for me to work and migrate in the U.S.A. being an LPN.

Last week,me and some of my colleagues met a Filipino guy based in NJ and has a placement office in Manila. He gave a seminar to rn, lpn and teachers who wished to work in the U.S. According to him, he can arrange the lpns to have an immigrant visa (becasue he has a tie-up u.s. immigration lawyer in nj) provided that we passed the nclex-pn and ielts exam.

Since I have my tourist visa, if i passed the nclex-pn and ielts and go to the u.s.a under my tourist visa, will it be a lot different. if I found some employers who are willing to hire me can they petition me under an immigrant status, or shall I work under the H1B visa?

I have heard a lot of contradicting news about this immigrant visa thing regarding foreign lpn's who are planning to work in the u.s.

I hope you can give me a clear picture about this whole thing.

Thank you very much and power to you.

Still hopeful,

You can believe all that you want but according to US law, in order for you to get a green card on your own, and be fast-tracked, you must be an RN.

Sure if you aremarried to an American citizen or someone that already has a green card, then that is a differ nt set of circumstances. You must have a Visa Screen Certificate and this is not issued to LPNS.

Teachers ae under a completely different type of visa.

H1-B visas are no longer available for 2004 and probably won't be for 2005.

And as an LPN you don't qualify under that either.

There are alot of people out there that will promise you anything, but US laws mandate something else. To go as an LPN, will mean that you are under regular processing which can take quite a few years, at least three. You would be at a much better advantage just to complete your RN. You would be there legally much quicker.

It is your choice, why don't you actually speak to an Immigration lawyer to find out for yourself. Another thing, according to immigration law, if you actually go to the US with the idea that you are going to go and get hired, and not return, then that is also against immigration laws.

I would like to ask if anyone of you already took the NY exam. Can you tell me what to do? Ms. Suzanne already gave me some tip. I hope to hear some words of advice. I am really confuse!!! :crying2:

The exam for NCLEX is the same for all of the states. Once you take it you will never have to take it again, unless you don't pass it the first time.

Once you receive your ATT letter you can actually take the exam where ever you want................NY, CA, Guam, Saipan, Hong Kong in January.

Ms. Suzanne,

Do you advice that I just take the exam there then go back to the PHIL and look for an employer here? Or can anyone attest that I can stay there after I take the exam then look for an employer. Can you suggest a site?

No more immigration allowed for 2004, does that mean we have to wait for a couple of year before we are allowed to work in the US

Thanks

The nurse that I was answering above was asking about an H1-B visa. And she is not an RN. If you go to NY and look for an employer and get hired, you will have to wait at least 90 days for your EAD letter. You cannot work during that time, and NY is much more expensive than Manila to stay in without an income. The least expensive way for you to do it, is to take your IELTS exam as you planned, then take NCLEX in Hong Kong in January, as you will have your ATT letter from NY by then. As soon as NCLEX is passed, you will be issued a Visa Screen Certificate, this can take a couple of months, but you can get a direct hire position, and have your papers processed during that time. Shortest and easiest. Many times the hospital will then fly you over to the US. Within one year, if not sooner, you can be working in NY and with a green card.................
