Hi, I am new to this board and new to the nursing field all together. Just this summer I decided that I wanted to go back to school, I already have a BSE in Special Education. But there is no jobs here. So being that I wanted to be a doctor all through out high school, I decided that maybe I would go back to school to become a nurse. It was too late to apply for fall so with along talk with my husband we decided that I would quit my job in the school district as a teachers aid. And apply for admisson to the local technical (community college) and get my Associate degree for an RN.
I applied on August 20th and still havent heard anything. I really want to know weather I even get accepted to the school soon. I have many questions about classes and such. Whether they will count my university credits for classes like oral and written comunication and math class. As well as although I didnt do well in HS chemistry and biology (I think I got high c's) will they count that. Its so frustrating. I want to know now.
In the mean time I am taking a 12 day CNA class starting Monday. Hopefully then I will find a CNA job, and do that while in school.
Sorry this is so long.
I just sent out my application to Harcum College Asn program. Everyone I know envolved with the program says that I'll be fine, but I'm still nervous. There are other programs the I plan to apply to, but this is the one I really want to get into. It's funny how so much can happen within a year. Just last year I was reading the list of Harcum's prereq's wondering how I would be able to do them all, and now here I am with most of them completed. Well, I guess I've done all I can do. I've prayed, worried, and now I just have to wait and see what happens. Good luck to all.
Well, I'm waiting on my invite into LBCC RN program. A friend of mine got her letter Saturday so I'm hoping that mine is in the mail today. They usually take 65 out of 200 - 300 as well. They had some deal with one of the local hospitals and last year took an additional 30 students, but someone on the boards here posted that they weren't taking the additional 30 this year - boo hoo, though I was unable to confirm that.
Anyway, this is just the invite to the 1st step, it doesn't mean people are 'in' yet, but I still want the invite!! lol
Good luck to all in your pursuit of nursing!
I have one app in and 3 more to fill out. I find out about the one already in around mid-Nov and the rest in early Dec. Unfortunately, after turning in the app I found out that I had not completed one page (there were no instructions and I thought they completed it) so despite exceeding all their requirements, I'm pretty sure I'm out of the running. All the programs around here receive about 600+ apps for 30 slots at each school, using a computerized random lottery selection, so I may have a long wait ahead of me!
Hi All Future Nursing Students!!!
I have turned in my application and taken the teas test and am sittin here drowning with the rest of yall!!!l:lol2: I THINK I have a good shot at being admitted into the program but still nothing beats knowing like knowing!!! I sometimes wish I was a computer guy so I could hack into my schools system and see where I rank!!! Just Kiddin I cant wait to find out thoug. Good luck and congratulations in advance to everyone!

ok so i am so sick of waiting. I was told 3 weeks ago i would know, and now they have moved the date to this friday that they would mail the letters out. This is very frustrating! My whole family keeps being put on hold as to know if i have been accepted or not. I am anxiously waiting. Best of luck to all

Hi everyone! I am so glad that you made this post as I just about went crazy waiting on a denial letter last spring. i had applied to an 14-month ABSN program and didn't even realize until after all the waiting that I didn't meet their GPA requirement. Anyways, I'm now waiting on a notification about the 24-month program to the same school, which this program has a lower GPA requirment. I've only applied to this school and I won't find out until on or around November 15 and the program begins Jan.9. I hope and pray that it comes sooner, but I swore to myself that I wouldn't drive myself crazy and get all stressed out this time like I did before. Just like butrfli says, what else can I do at this point? I've applied and now all I can do is wait. it's in god's hands now.
well, best wishes to all of you! Hope everyone gets in where they want to and if for some reason you don't, keep applying, keep your head up, and don't let anything stop you from accomplishing your dreams!!
