Hi! I'm a registered nurse in the Philippines. I really decided to join this website because I have so many questions in mind that is bothering me right at this moment. This is regarding my plans of working in Illinois. I will be taking the CGFNS exam this July. In God's grace to pass, I'm planning to take IELTS exam and apply for an NCLEX examination. I would just like to ask an advice from you if what exam should I take first? Is it the IELTS or apply first to NCLEX? And how many months does this application will be approved by the Illinois BON? Because I've heard from my friends that it will took us a couple of months for our application to be approved by the Illinois BON for us to take the NCLEX exam. Is it true? Thanks ahead for your reply... God bless!!!

hi i just want to know if ever i apply and pass the nclex exam in california, will i able to work in illinois? would they honor it? or do i need to take another nclex at illinois? thanks.

you just have to apply for endorsement of your license. you dont have to take the exam again.

your application is valid for 3 years. you should have completed the requirements including the passing of exam within that period.

yes you can register. registration to pearsonvue for exam is valid for 365 days. the BON should have determined that you are eligible to sit for exam within that period.

ATT in Illinois is valid for 90 days. you should have taken the exam within 90 days. or else, you have to register to pearsonvue again.

goodluck.

so does that mean that if i will receive the letter of approval from CTS by let's say oct 1, 2006 i can register to pearsonvue within 365 days and if i will register at pearsonvue for instance january 1, 2007, i should take my nclex exam until march 31, 2007?

They will accept passing score of the NCLEX exam, but you still need to go thru the rest of the License by Endorsement" process, and obtain an actual license to work in Illinois.

Please refer to their website for all that you will need to do.

application in IL is a dual process. that means, you can pass the application form and register to pearsonvue simultaneously. you dont have to wait for letter of approval.. you can register to pearsonvue though you havent recieve it.. my friend didnt recieve her letter of approval (maybe it was sent to a wrong address) but registered to pearsonvue after she sent her application form. she got her ATT immediately.

registration to pearsonvue is valid for 365 days ($200). the BON should have determined that youre eligible to sit for exam within 365 days. once you register to pearsonvue, they (pearsonvue) will just call the BON if your application is approved. then, they will send the ATT to your email address immediately.

the att is valid for 90 days only. so, you should have taken the exam within 90 days. or else, you have to register to pearsonvue again ($200).got it?

thank you so much kathykaye!

Hi! I've already submitted my application to CTS but they want my documents to be evaluated by CGFNS. Is it really a requirement to have my documents evaluated? Is there a faster way cause I might be waiting for another couple of months. Please help me..Thanks!

yup... it's really a must! :wink2: it took me about 2 months to have my ATT on hand.

for applicants educated outside the United States or its territories, the following:

A credentials evaluation report of the applicant's foreign nursing education from one of the following Division-approved credentialing services:

i) Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) Credentials Evaluation Service (CES);

ii) Educational Records Evaluation Service; or

iii) International Education Research Foundation

try to visit this website to help you with your inquiries: www.idfpr.com

and also visit www.cgfns.org CES section. online application is now available. it's fast compare thru mail.

Sorry, but never recommended to do this. What happens if there are issues with the application? And things get delayed, you then lose the $200, and do not forget the $150 extra if done out of the US.

What happens if the nurse cannot write the exam during that 90 day period? If they pay in advance for it, they have no control over which 90 period.

Makes no sense at all.

CGFNS is not issuing the CES to those that took the June exam. And until there is a retake, the US is not accepting anything based on that exam.

CGFNS will not release the CES, nor the Visa Screen Certificate.

You have no choice, Illinois requires the CES, and until last year, they required the CGFNS exam. So be happy that they made the change.

You have plenty of time to do things properly.
