For Fun - Things You Want to Buy Once You're a Nurse

Published

Ok, I know we should be frugal after we graduate and invest in retirement, pay off debt and student loans, etc. However, for a little fun, what kinds of things do you look forward to buying after you graduate and are working as a nurse?

For me: a Dyson vacuum cleaner ($500) and a set of NARS blushes ($200), the best blush on the planet. I've also been fixated on buying a Mini Cooper:

I suspect I'll buy the Dyson and NARS, but the Mini Cooper may just not be a good financial choice.

So what do you all want to buy?

More or less in order..

1. To catch up on my bills

2. To gradually (but not quickly enough, due to other wants) pay off any outstanding debt.

3. To buy my daughter the cool toys that she wants that I never had.

4. To buy a BRAND NEW WARDROBE!!! I haven't had the money to buy new clothes for almost 4 years!

5. To buy a car that I WANT!!! not one that someone gave to me

6. To move to a warmer state!!!! (i'm thinking AZ)

7. To take my daughter to Disneyworld, since I've never gone myself and I had to miss the trip with my family last year due to lack of money.

But most importantly, I'd like to be able to work a job with hours that allows me to be home with my daughter more often and still be able to pay the bills.

OMG!!! What a coincidental post!!! About 6 months after working as an RN I went out one weekend to test drive a Mini Clubman, and let me tell you, that was the MOST fun I've ever had driving!!!! If it wasn't for my underlying practical nature, I would've bought that bb then n there! But...need to work a few years and get all my bills paid, then maybe a nice new car with a vanity plate 'RNROX' or something like that! ;-)

I bought a "miner's" headlamp, just so I could see where I was trying to put the catheter on some of my patients.:banghead:

I just want to get a job offer first.

Then my first purchase will be a bottle of bubbly... :p

Everything I own is second hand except for the recliner that our kids and myself bought my husband for X-mas. With that said, I'd buy a new sofa (replacing the futon) and a matching love seat. Also would by a bedroom set to replace the set we picked up at a hotel sale. Maybe even a computor chair to replace the one that my 2 sons pieced together from 2 chairs they found in a dumpster after hurrican Ike. That's about it for now.

Going to buy this toy as soon as it is confirmed I have passed my CRNA boards!

I have a few of those now, and they're really a lot of fun! Better hurry though.:wink2:

When I'm done with nursing school I want to get the eye surgery, not lasik but the other kind so that I don't have to wear these stupid glasses or contacts anymore. I can't wait for the day I can fall asleep watching TV or wake up and see the time without having to put on my glasses. Eye doctor already says I'm a good candidate, now I just need the funds :]

Oh and of course FULLY PAID school loans. Mhm.

Does it really work?????

actually it does, especially in the middle of the night or when you just don't have enough light to see which hole you're going for:wink2:
