I was referred to recently as "Just a CNA". Well obviously I have made a smart move in starting my journey to becoming an RN. With my CNA I am working in a hospital where I am learning day to day what a new RN endures. I also have a distinct advantage when I finish my RN in securing a position.
There are nursing jobs available so please do not be discouraged or swayed by members of this site, over time they can become cynical. If you are willing to actually work and be part of a nursing team as a CNA the experience you gain will be worth it's weight in gold. Nothing worth having in life ever comes easy.
And remember when you do become an RN respect and appreciate your CNA because he or she can make or break you career.

Very well said! I agree with you 100%. I notice there are many cynical nurses on this site and it's too bad.

I agree as well. Thanks for your insight. I am a SN and and a CNA at a hospital and thankfully the RN's I work with don't make me feel like "just a CNA".
You have to start somewhere.
Thanks for the spelling correction, I should always hit spell check lol. Yes it seems some of the nurses have become hard over the years.

I just finished CNA school as of today, have my boards on Sept. 10th.
As for nursing school, I start that in a week!
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOUR STATEMENTS - CNA are the foundation of a good nurse, like the artist pallette when looking at a canvas!

And jesskidding actually most of my nurses do respect me as a nursing student, CNA and middle aged woman working on my second degree. It was on this site that I was referred to as "just a CNA".
That's ok i will get the last laugh! The Future Hope63 RN

Very true. I think being a CNA- even part time- should be mandatory (and could help offset tuition costs) for all nursing students- there is nothing like experience- and CNAs are masters of time management when they are good :) Never let anybody say you're "just a CNA"....CNAs are the backbone of healthcare facilities. :)
Congrats sandarnstudent !!! Keep us posted on your progress !!1

I'm a senior nursing student and would LOVE a job somewhere as a CNA. It's been difficult to find one though, specifically in the hospital. I am still just a nursing student.
Thank you xtxm !!! I'm sure your CNA staff and nursing students appreciate your respect.

I've said this before but "CNAs make the best nurses."
Samantha start at a home health agency or as a private CNA. Working one on one is good experience and a way to get your foot into the hospital after a few months of experience. It worked for me !:)
