Flying out to NYC for NCLEX

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi.

I'm a Swedish RN, BSN. 2 September I'm flying out to NYC to sit the NCLEX exam. I've been studying, quit a lot. Using Uworld, I've soon done the whole Q-bank. Usually I score 48-55%. I started out at 38-40% (lol). What can I do to improve my chances to pass? Anyone got any advice? Could u pass the NCLEX when scoring 48-55% on Uworld?

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

So once you get your US RN license, you can work directly as a nurse nationally? Do you need a work permit or sponsorship for that?

Getting US nursing license doesn’t give legal right to work in the country. You still need a work or immigrant visa to be able to work

I did take the NCLEX and I'm now licensed in state of NY. Now I'm trying to endorse it to Pennsylvania which isn't the easiest without SSN and being out of the country to leave fingerprints etc...

If you don't mind me asking, why did you apply to New York for the NCLEX exam if you really want to work in Pennsylvania? Wouldn't that have made the most sense, or is it a more complicated situation? Not being nosy, genuinely curious ?

I needed more documents and a SNN to apply to PA directly. Made more sense to apply to New york

Hi, do you mind sharing your timeline in getting your NYS license from the time you applied for ATT (authorization to test)? How long did it take you overall? Thanks.

For me personally since I was schooled out of state, it took approximately 7-8 weeks for me to receive my ATT. It was so frustrating, I called and emailed but still had to wait. But it gave me more tune to study. After I took my exam my quick results were available within 48hrs. In addition it took about 4-5 days before it was uploaded onto NYBON. My license and certificate arrived about 2 weeks after I passed which was very surprising to me since it took so long to get my ATT.
