Hi.
I'm a Swedish RN, BSN. 2 September I'm flying out to NYC to sit the NCLEX exam. I've been studying, quit a lot. Using Uworld, I've soon done the whole Q-bank. Usually I score 48-55%. I started out at 38-40% (lol). What can I do to improve my chances to pass? Anyone got any advice? Could u pass the NCLEX when scoring 48-55% on Uworld?

Did you buy the subscription with the 2 assessments included? That gives you a predictor of your likelihood of passing. Your scores are definitely on the low side. Did you read every single rationale whether you answered correctly or not? That is very helpful and I highly recommend doing that if you have not. You still have a few weeks. Do as many practice questions you can to improve your chances.
NCLEX is a crapshoot. If you get material you know...you will pass. It is more about application than content. You never know the hand of cards you will be dealt until you see them.
GOOD LUCK!
Yeah I did!I did one assessment, however.. can't remember what result I got there, and didn't take it too serious lol. Ive got my second assessment left. When would be a good time to do that?I've considered buying NCSBN's own 2 question assessments. Does anyone recommend them? What score in %% on uWorld per test should I aim for?
You should be able to look up your score in your account. It will tell you borderline, likely to pass, very likely to pass etc.
With all due respect, I don’t understand the “I didn’t take it too seriously and the lols” You are investing more than most having to fly out to the states to take this exam. I would be damn serious about these assessments and scores. Since you did the whole q bank already, I would do the assessment right away. If you are not improving in your scores and the assessments are telling you that you may not be ready....You have 2 choices....make this your only priority for the next few weeks or reschedule your flight and exam.
I've been trying to look at my first assessment score, but I can't for the sake of god find it. I just have the general data of all my tests. I bought the uWorld and assessments before I had gotten my ATT. That's why I didn't take it too seriously. Now when I've scheduled my exam and trip I obviously take it seriously. This is why I'm turning to this forum to ask for advice regarding techniques and tips what scores to aim for etc. I've been doing 75 questions per day for 2-3 weeks upping my score with 10-15%, like you can read in my first post.I have no choice but to take it, otherwise my ATT is running out.
Your first assessment may have expired. Once it does they send you an email with your stats. I would take your second assessment right away to see where you are at. You can also review all of the test q rationales again as they are very comprehensive.
There are a lot of free NCLEX practice q online you can google. Saunders makes a great NCLEX review app which runs about $40 if it fits in your budget and you feel you need more practice q. I would do more than 75 q per day. You want to be prepared to take all 265 q just in case. You need to train yourself not to freak out if it does not shut off at 75. (I had 84 q, and my friends went anywhere from 75-265 and every number in between. I had a friend do all 265 and pass! Anything is possible with this exam and that is exactly what you want to be ready for.
Keep telling yourself you are taking this exactly one time over and over. Just keep putting that out into the universe. You still have time before your exam to keep practicing. You will do it!
Thank you for motivating me!I saw the e-mail, thanks for the tip. I was in the low-range of passing. I will do the second assessment test this Tuesday when I get off work. My budget fits anything really, because I already invested so much time and money in this. But would you recommend the Saunders App for 40$ or should I buy two tests from NCSBN for 120$? Or get Kaplan as well? What should I study simultaneously with uWorld?
You are welcome!
That is a tough one as I only used UWorld to study. I had the Saunders app to use during my program. I don’t have any experience with the NCSBN material. I would search this site to see what people are saying that have used it.
Bottom line is NCLEX is all about application. If you are strong in your content but are having trouble answering the questions then the answer is pick a program with lots of practice q and do as many as you can. If you are weak in the content area then you need a program that has a combo of practice q and content review.
Hope this helps

So once you get your US RN license, you can work directly as a nurse nationally? Do you need a work permit or sponsorship for that?

Have you take your NCLEX-RN as yet?
I did take the NCLEX and I'm now licensed in state of NY. Now I'm trying to endorse it to Pennsylvania which isn't the easiest without SSN and being out of the country to leave fingerprints etc...
