Did you get yours?
I got my flu shot a few weeks ago. I broke out in hives a few hours later, they went away and then returned that evening. Was it the flu shot or something in the vaccine? Should I be nervouse about gettting vacines in the future or just the flu vaccine? I have never had this type of reaction, but in the last 5 years I have had way too many shots (hep b series, hep a series, several MMR, several tetnus, flu shot each year, PPD each year) Do you think it is the amount of vaccines I have got or just the flu shot?
My daughter got a flu shot for the first time this year. Just a reminder to parents if it is your childs first time getting the flu shot they need it in a two part series a month apart.
Hope everyone stays healthy this year!

Some people are allergic to thimerosol: It's a mercury-containing preservative used in vaccines to prevent bacterial contamination.
I had no idea the numbers were that high!
Q. How many people die of the flu each year in the U.S.?
A. Influenza leads to an average of about 36,000 deaths and 114,000 hospitalizations a year in the U.S.

I got mine! Free, I might add. I have gotten my for the last three years, and while I used to get a nasty cold/flu once a year, I have not been that sick since I started getting the flu shot. As tweety said, I try to keep pretty healthy too, you know, for good measure :) It does give me a sore arm for a couple of days and I think that our employee health nurse leaves the biggest bruises possible when she gives any type of injection (it's actually a standing joke at the hospital...)
Originally posted by TeenyBabyRNGot mine back in October, but I've been sick as a dog for the last 2 weeks anyway. I've heard reports on the news that the strain that is getting so bad was not included in this year's shot.
Rats!
I got mine a month ago. Yeah I heard about that on the news, too. I wish you a speedy recovery. Isn't it nice to be able to talk to sick people without fear of getting sick. God bless the internet!

It takes the body two weeks for the flu shot to work. So there is no way you would get the flu after you receive it. Once the vac. is drawin' up it only is good for 20 minutes in the syringe. anyone who gets the flu was already exposed as fergus51 said
