Let's see. I'm an LPN. I work in a home for the developmentally disabled and really do like it more than I thought I would. However, not enough "nursing stuff" going on, if you know what I mean. I am starting LPN-RN in August. I was also a CNA. I'm in Pensacola but hope to move to Bradenton after I finish school. I have already started checking into the U of SF in Sarasota for their RN-MSN degree program.

Love South Florida and can't wait to move there.

Someone was talking about small town feel? Move to the Panhandle. Bakoodles of little small towns this way. :)

Congrats on your decision to go back to school and get your RN. I was like you in that I was an LPN for a long time and finally made the decision to go back and get my RN. It was a challenge to do, but with forditude and commitment, it has all paid off. Thank you for your response.

Hi! I'm an RN in St. Petersburg. Been in this area for 13 years, and have been employed at the same hospital for all of those years. I've worked in med-surg areas to include trauma, nureo and telemetry. The last ten years I've been doing charge nurse and in a couple of weeks am going back to being a floor nurse and will only do charge on a relief basis. I'll be going back to trauma med-surg!

I went to nursing school in Fayetteville North Carolina and got an ADN. I've been accepted into the RN to BSN program at St. Petersburg College, but am going to take a few co-reqs before I begin the nursing program.

I'm happily partnered for the last 7 1/2 years in a same-sex relationship, with two adorable loving Italian Greyhounds.

:)

I have long admired your posts and have looked to you as a role model for me as I learned this board Tweety. It is a pleasure to moderate a forum that represents your home State. We have a lot in common, although it is reversed .... I went to school in Bradenton and moved to NC and you went to school in NC and moved to Florida. Interesting .... anyway, thanks for your post .... Good luck in school.

Just completed an ADN program up there and passed my boards this past May and I'm now working as an RN at Florida Hospital here in Orlando. The area is beautiful, and my partner and I just purchased a new condo that we've been working on for the past few weeks... can't wait till its fininshed! Great to meet everyone!!!

Darlene - how do you like Excelsior? Are you close to being finished? I had several friends that went through the program when it was Regents ... four of them passed the clinical weekend and one failed, but retested and past the next time. Good luck with your program.

I am a second year nursing student at HCC in Tampa. I work as a oncology tech at the Moffitt Cancer Center and look forward to a career as an oncology nurse there. I am a mother of 2 wonderful boys and my husband commutes to Denver for work or should I say commutes home for family life.

Hi,

I currently reside in New Jersey and will be starting an accelerated BSN program here. Upon completion (14 months) my husband and I will be relocating to the house were building in St Augustine. Unlike a good number of you who have replied to this post, I am extremely tired of the cold and snow and look forward to a more moderate climate. Go figure, maybe in 10 years I'll miss it all and want to go back. I sure hope that I like nursing!

I have been sponsored by Baptist Medical in Jacksonville and will be working at one of their hospitals when I get there.

Ok - who are you, what do you do, where abouts in Florida do you live (or if you are not in Floirda, what part of Florida do you want to move too), what is your clinical area, you status (CNA, LPN, RN, Student, Whatever) and anything else you might want to add.

Some of you already know me, I lived in Florida for a little over 20 years. An RN, I worked and lived in Sarasota. Went to nursing school at Manatee Community College and also University of South Florida at Sarasota. Great place .... love the beaches and the area is truly a wonderful place. I generally work surgical recovery and while in Florida, I worked in post open heart step down and also worked as a nurse manager.

I am a single dad raising three children (all are now teenagers - whew is this rough!). They are really great kids and I am a very luck father to have them. :uhoh3:

Next ...... :chuckle

Hi Patrick and everyone else. I'm an ADN student at the community college in Daytona. I've lived here for 10 years now and am also a bit tired of the heat and humidity. I figure I'll eventually end up back north. I have a little boy just about to hit his terrible two's, lol. So between him and my school work, I'm one busy woman. I just want to add how HAPPY I am that I found allnurses. This is an awesome forum, so much to learn, so much to participate in. See you all around. :)

Sue - great to hear from the UK!!!!!! You have a big move ahead of you, but I am sure you are excited and can't wait to get it going. How do your kids feel about moving to America? Are they as excited about it as you and your husband?

Good luck with your immigration paperwork, I am sure it is nothing less than a pain in the neck to sit and wait through all the red tape! Nice to have your post.

Yep I am really excited and nervous too....it is a big step :) My 8 yr old is sort of exctied about coming over but is worried about making friends...and then other days he doesnt want to go...so I cant win ..lol As for my 2 yr old he is too young at the mo to understand! Hubby cant wait as he has been nagging me for 12 yrs about coming over here so he finally has his wish...as I was the only one that could get us here with being a nurse!!! :)

Hello RNPATL from the East Coast. I'm a resident of Boca Raton, live across the street from the beach, and am a Florida native. Unlike you, I'm ready for a move. I long for cooler temperatures, snow, colorful autumn leaves and rolling hills. Maybe even mountains. I'm single. My kids are grown and have moved out of state which is another reason why I feel the need to move.

I'm a second semester nursing student at the community college where I'll be starting my L&D rotation next month and work as a per diem patient care tech at a local hospital. The work is hard and worth much more than the $10/hr base pay I get paid but I've learned so much. So you are a recovery room nurse. Looks like a good specialty.

Hi you are right where I want to be( right across the street from the beach). We plan to move to Florida when I am through with school. I start the ADN program August 18. Are you intrested in selling??? I love Ky. but I also love Florida.Good Luck CRB613
