Florida Nurses Salary

Published

My family and I are planning to relocate to Florida from Ohio.

I have 15 years experience as an RN, 8 years in hemodialysis. I have been a CNN for 3 years. Any ideas about salary and cost of living? I plan to stay in hemodialysis.

I have no idea how much dialysis pays, I do know Florida pays much less than everywhere else. The going travel nurse pay is $26.00 an hour. I live here and Last year I received 38 dollars for critical care unit, it dropped to 32.00.

There are ads in the paper for dialysis. A good thing, Florida does not have state income tax.

I'm very confused! When I look on the internet in the Florida newspapers the nursing jobs for LPN are $22-26 hr. Are these the "bad" places to work or what?!?! Thanks Mickie

My cousin Susan has been an LPN for over 20 years, she gets 17 an hour LTC.

Hi y'all -

I am a SC NICU RN looking to move to north-central Florida, and am also interested in wages.

Right now, I make $20.56/hr, plus $3.30/hr night shift differential, plus $8/hr weekend differential (must work every other wk-end) -

this for approx. 2-1/2 yrs. nursing experience.

Where does this put me with regards to Florida pay? I realize Florida does not have a state income tax (hallelujah), so hopefully that would help?

Thanks for your time. I know lots of people (esp. nurses) are funny about talking salary, but the best way to find out is to ask!:kiss

I am a UK RN and going to do my NCLEX next week (for the 2nd time) - I have had 2 job offers - one in Deland @ $21.75 and one in Vero Beach @ $23 and that is based on me having 14 yrs experience as a UK RN...dont know if that helps ...

hey -

i've been a nurse 6 years, sicu - average 28.00/hr and make 125.00 per tx for inhouse acute dialysis. the hd clinics in the area pay about 20.00/hr.

this is close to top of the scale.

HI!

Just to change the subject completely I came across your posting and I would like to ask you about the position I am in. I too want to relocate to Florida, I am an RMN and currently converting into Adult nursing RGN. However I do not have paediartic or matenity placements in my training ( nor do the 3 year RGN diploma nurses now). Anyway,I have been told by an agency that do I need to have these in order to sit the CGFNS exam does Florida require us to sit the CGFNS exam? I realise we have to sit the NClex. Good luck on that! Also can I ask you are you going through an agency to sit the NCLEX and rellocating? If so how long will it take you to move out there once you've passed the NCLEX? Is the NCLEX tough? Can nurses sit it a few times and is it expensive. Sorry I realise this is a long set of questions but I have been bombarded with different views. I would be really gratefull if you could get back to me on this subject thanks and the best of luck for exam! jules

Wow what a lot of questions!!!

First of all YOU DO NEED Pediatric/maternity experience - so many hours - cant remember how many of the top of my head now though....without this you wont be eligible to sit either the NCLEX or the CGFNS exam. So you need to look at how you can get this experience to qualify to do these exams.

I started the journey of relocating in sept 2002...and still waiting!!

THe NCLEX is tough - no denying that and it cost a couple of hundred $ to sit it, plus the cost of books etc to study for it.

Sorry it has taken me a long time to reply but just been to Florida for 3 weeks, while I was there took my NCLEX for the 2nd time and I PASSED....yippee!!!!

One Jacksonville NICU paid 27.50 for weekend nights. That was 17.50 base plus 10.00 diff for weekend nights. This is about the average for that area.

I am relocating to Florida . The pay is bad for nurses and I don't understand why Florida does not do something about the wage . I will work In PA for double Q 2 weeks and live in florida . Florida loses buit hey I guess they just don't care . I won't bust my back for 15-17 per hour when I can make 30-32 up in pA :angryfire
