Florida Nurses Salary

U.S.A. Florida

Published

My family and I are planning to relocate to Florida from Ohio.

I have 15 years experience as an RN, 8 years in hemodialysis. I have been a CNN for 3 years. Any ideas about salary and cost of living? I plan to stay in hemodialysis.

Well that is certainly an option, but you are only making about 9K per year for all your hard work by traveling back and forth...

I can net about $1000.00 for the weekend . It is well worth the 110 in air fare I think. If I get 30.00 in Tampa it may work for me . Wages are so low in Florida that change in politics are needed badly. It is the 1st thing I intend to lobby in a big way. Nurse's in Florida need to band together and get rid of the current board of nursing they are NOT helping the nurse's cause at all. Whoever is running for office will get my vote if they find a way to secure better income for nurse's . I think the 9K is low in 12 months I can net 12,000. There are many ways to shin the cat.:chuckle

Hi, I'm interested in finding out how you go about sitting the NCLEX exams. Please advise me, as I'm interested in relocating to Florida.

Thanks in advance.

The nursing school you graduated from should be able to guide you here. Or contact your state board of nursing.

I am in Jamaica West Indies and it's difficult to get that information. I am really researching the Fl area. Thanks for your assistance.

Sorry! I didn't realize you were outside U.S.

I really don't know what to tell you - maybe go to Florida State Board of Nursing website?

Anybody out there have any suggestions?

I sat for the NCLEX for my Florida license while living in New York State. Just notify Florida Licensing Bureau and they will set it up......I think they will be able to send you in the right direction..

I am sitting my NCLEX in about a month. The agency (O Grady Peyton) reckon i will get out to USA approx 8 months after that if I pass. Good Luck :)

HI!

Just to change the subject completely I came across your posting and I would like to ask you about the position I am in. I too want to relocate to Florida, I am an RMN and currently converting into Adult nursing RGN. However I do not have paediartic or matenity placements in my training ( nor do the 3 year RGN diploma nurses now). Anyway,I have been told by an agency that do I need to have these in order to sit the CGFNS exam does Florida require us to sit the CGFNS exam? I realise we have to sit the NClex. Good luck on that! Also can I ask you are you going through an agency to sit the NCLEX and rellocating? If so how long will it take you to move out there once you've passed the NCLEX? Is the NCLEX tough? Can nurses sit it a few times and is it expensive. Sorry I realise this is a long set of questions but I have been bombarded with different views. I would be really gratefull if you could get back to me on this subject thanks and the best of luck for exam! jules

Good luck for NCLEX. I think OGP is misleading you though time wise, current Texas Service Center ( they process FL paperwork) processing for schedule A nurses is taking 350- 400 days at the moment, mine has been there for 6 months already. My agency has totally mislead me for the last 19 months as to how long this will take- although this delay is not their fault. I turned down a place at a private school for my daughter because they told me I would be in FL by June 2003., now it looks more like June 2005.

It is very hard to try and live a normal life, esp. as my husband works off shore. Hopefully OGP is correct, and you will get there quickly

Sorry to sound so negative! :)

Take care. Sounds like you need some prayers

NO PAY HERE!!!! Better make sure your wife can be working too. Cost of living is as the same in the north . I got here about 2 weeks ago and I can tell you the wages are frightening . 15.00 per hour ????? and they expect nurse's to do a great job for that pay!! . Cost of living : same amt for cable $50.00 per month if not more , telephone same as in the north 39.00 per month electric : not sure yet . food the same no better deals here . 100.00 per week. gas : higher than in the north . 171-178 per gallon. There are jobs in dialysis , but just be prepared for that wages decrease at least 10-15 $ lower. I took a 6 $ per hr loss:angryfire because I am in management and experience counted
