What type of behavioral/situational questions did you guys get in your interviews?

@ gatorgirl8888 Hello! I actually just got hired into the PCU unit at Celebration for the August RN Residency program, but my dream is the ICU. Do you have any advice? I have a 4.0 GPA so they had told me I could hold out for an ICU position if one came available, but they suggested getting my foot in the door was the most important thing. Also, how do you like the hospital? I've heard such great things so I'm excited to start in August.

The hospitals don't share your information with every single unit that is hiring nurses. They need to have preceptors available to train GN's on that unit and a need to hire nurses. They will want a nurse that wants that particular type of unit and maybe that unit has some preferences as well, like what unit you have experience in clinicals or practicum on. If the recruiters sent your info to everyone in the hospital that was hiring, they would be wasting everyone's time with all of the interviews for different units when you could only take 1 job. If you are a great candidate, 2-3 interviews is all you need, just be your best self and you will get the position! Good luck!

For those starting July at Orlando (South): What units are you starting on?

Has anyone done the required EKG class? I am trying to find it out if it was difficult and how hard I have to study for it.

Has anyone had a live digital interview with Florida Hospital? Is it only HR or HR+Manager?

Thanks

Was told they will begin making calls tomorrow to provide more information (for the July cohort)

I'm out of state and one location did a Skype interview with me and another, the one I'll be working at (East Orlando), did a FaceTime interview with me. Both times, it was HR first and then the unit managers

Thank you! The live interview is a new concept for me and since I have been reading that usually, HR will interview me first and if everything goes well, then I would go to the floor and have another interview with the unit manager... I don't now how that is going to be possible with a digital interview? I'm willing to travel to Orlando if that will increase my chances. Did they offer you the position on the spot or days later?

For me, HR hung up with me and then called me back (through Skype or FaceTime, whichever we were using) in a conference room where the unit manager came in. I had 2 interviews with FH and one of them I was offered a day or two later and East Orlando offered it to me on the spot at the end of the interview.

Everyone ive interviewed with so far has been very kind and personable. The questions are typical behavioral questions, so I was looking examples up and practicing what I would say.

I stated with the July 2015 RN Residency in the ICU at Celebration. I can't believe I've been working almost a year now. It's great and I've learned so much! Good Luck to you all!

Hi! I know it has been a while since you interviewed for your floor but do you happen to remember if your interview was mostly behavioral questions or were there clinical scenarios? I have an ICU interview coming up and any help would definitely be appreciated! :) :)

Hi! I'm a BSN grad from the Orlando area and I stumbled upon this post. I got offered a GN position on the CVICU at Florida hospital south for the July program. The program starts on July 25th, however 2 weeks before that begins you have to go get your badge, drugs screen, ect ect ect. I was told I would be contacted for my background check on June 25th and contacted by education on July 6th to discuss these things further :) I hope that helps a bit! Also, for the July program you have to have passed boards by July 6th!

Hi! I was wondering if you happen to remember what kind of questions they asked during your interview? Was it mostly typical behavioral questions or did they ask you about clinical scenarios? I have an ICU interview coming up and I'm not sure what to expect! Any help would be appreciated :) :)
