Florida Hospital Residency JULY 2016

Published

Hello! Is anyone applying for the RN Residency for July 2016?

What units are you applying? Are you attending the Hiring event?

Good luck everyone!

I am applying for

1) OR / NICU / ER .... And YOU? :)

Which hospital(s) and areas in ORLANDO is best to live?

1) Altamonte Springs, FL 32701

2)Apopka, FL 32703

3)Celebration, FL 34747

4)East Orlando, FL 32822

5)Kissimmee, FL 34744

6)Orlando, FL 32803

7) Winter Garden, FL 34787

8) Winter Park, FL

Thank you for any info ;)

I think that's missing days. We have an EKG class (unpaid) before orientation (which is our official start date)

There is health screening/drug/nicotine testing a week or so before. I have not received an official schedule as to the EKG review and exam. I did see one for the Altamonte Springs campus that the HR lady showed me, which was before June 20th. I'll have to contact my recruiter this week and find out.

On a side note: I'm going to order my navy blue scrubs tomorrow :) :) :) So excited!

Oh and to answer the OP's question as to where is it best to live?

I can tell you where it is not best to reside: 3)Celebration, FL 34747

4)East Orlando, FL 32822

5)Kissimmee, FL 3474

Tons of traffic and congestion, but take what you can. Traffic and # of population is not as bad as the Tampa region

Which hospital are you at? Didn't know we were in Navy blue. I was hoping for a different color

"Most" locations use Navy blue or Red as an option if you work in a cardiac floor. Orlando campus uses "Royal blue" (peds and ob are different of course)

I will be working in the Apopka campus. Which will move into a brand spanking new and much improved building next year. All new hires no matter the location will meet on June 20-22 at the Orlando campus, so hope to meet ya'll there :)

Oh ok. I wanted Apopka or Altamonte, but got Orlando. Can't wait to meet everyone ;)

Specializes in CVICU.

Orlando here too :)

Hmm I applied in April when the April/may/June app was open. Even though I wanted to start in July. I got some calls for cardiac fairly quickly. It just depends on what area you're trying to get into. I know peds and OB are no longer hiring (at south) for July. I would call your HR person and ask them what's going on and maybe expand ur options a little. Good luck!!!

HR from FH called me for two interviews (finally!). I had to do some prodding with them a few days prior to that because my information was just sitting there and nobody had been applying me to any GN positions. Luckily they did after I talked to a few people.

Yay! Congrats!! Where will you be interviewing? If you want some tips let me know! I've done the HR interview, cardiac panel interview, peds interview, and a one on one with the CVICU manager :)

Thank you! It's for med tele for both Altamonte and East Orlando. I really feel like HR has slacked on putting my info out, they put me out for only 2-3 for some reason. But I had a few interviews through Health Central in Orlando and they went pretty well!

Im assuming FH will have the typical behavioral interviews, tell me when/what would you do, etc. just ready to get it done :p

Oh yes Med-Tele @ Altamonte...deja-vu lol. Listen, you first have to do a HR interview (it's the building behind the hospital) and then if your lucky, they will pass your info to the nurse manager named Prisxxxxx. Who knows, maybe your case is different and you get to go straight to do a floor interview. I never did get a call from E.Orlando Med-Tele, even though my review showed "complete". I only got hired cause I attended a job fair (2nd one actually) and got to talk directly with the hiring manager, not just HR.

Thanks for the advice! I'm out of state, so they're doing a Skype interview with me. I believe my first interview for Altamonte is just with HR first but my interview for East Orlando is with both HR and the med-tele manager. I feel pretty comfortable interviewing after getting a few other ones out of the way (I was super nervous), so hopefully they like me and I get an offer!
